I'm genuinely astonished that no one on the right has pitched a 'single payer' plan that is functionally just a massive guaranteed government income stream toward the medical and pharmaceutical companies the way that the Bush-era prescription drug plan for Medicare was. (It would still be better than what we have now, too.)
