Would anyone give them anything of value for Okafor? Seems like Brooklyn, Miami, Dallas and Phoenix could use any talent they could get, tho none of those teams have much in the way of assets. Hell I wouldn't mind Portland taking a flyer on him if the price was right.

Mario in Orlando: is there anything that's worth "freeing"? Was he massively overhyped? Does he just need more playing time? Going from 15 minutes to 8 minutes per game in your 2nd season is pretty bad.

The Ringer has something up on mid-season trades:quote:If Bryan Colangelo is finally ready to cash in on Sam Hinkie’s assets, trading for McCollum would make sense. Here’s an idea to mull over: The Blazers send McCollum to the Sixers for Noel, the Sixers’ unprotected 2017 first, the Kings’ unprotected 2019 first, and multiple second-round picks. There would be financial kinks to work out because of the poison pill, but that would be the base offer. If you’re a Blazers fan, your first reaction is probably to click out of this article, but wait! https://theringer.com/the-nbas-midseason-arms-race-is-upon-us-158ff3ee2b86#.a396hwwrl edit: quote:There’s more to consider though: Millsap will be a 32-year-old free agent this summer, so there’s no guarantee that he’d be anything more than a high-level rental. The team he finishes this season with will have his Bird rights, so he would be eligible for the full max at 35 percent of the cap for five years and roughly $207 million. That’s the new market for top-25 players, but teams should pay for what a player will become, not what he was. Those numbers gave me whiplash. Why did they sign Biyombo when they already had a center, Ibaka, and Aaron Gordan is miles better as a 4 why did they spend 15 million cap on jeff green why does their GM still have job after giving away like 3 starters for nothing

This sorta thing bugs me. I am pretty sure if you removed bad defensive lineups featuring a player from every team, everyone's DRTG would look better and Sixers wouldn't be 6th anymore. Playing Okafor makes it hard to have a good defense though, so your point stands. I just don't like it when people try to compare only good lineups against other teams' complete set of lineups.

Why would Philly be a mid-lottery pick? They have the 3rd worst record in the league and adding McCollum mid season probably won't pull them out of the bottom 5 or 6. It'll be a good pick.

The phrase "get away from me, kid, you bother me" was not uttered but implied.

I think your point was fine, but we've had discussions recently (Kawhi's defensive impact, for instance) where that kind of analysis was definitely misleading because Kawhi played 75% of the minutes with a specific lineup. I also do a lot of this in non-basketball capacity for a living so it's like a double-dip of annoyance.

My favorite wtf theory is that teams are isoing Kawhi to effectively play 4-on-4 on offense and that's why Kawhi's defensive impact is lessened this year literally no team is going to do that in a goddamn regular season game

edit: ^^ p. muchdokmo posted:How the gently caress does Brooklyn have 8 wins? Is there anyone who watches them who can explain this to me? If you run your offense through Brook Lopez you can probably figure out how to win 1 game out of 5. They have a couple other NBA-like vets too that will keep them hanging around. You play enough guys aged 29-36 you'll win a few games. I've watched like 30 total minutes of Nets games though so maybe scoreboard error?
