So iunno, left just seems to mean "vaguely attacked the government, a government employed persons or place" I guess? That seems to be the main factor. Oswald may have been left, but there's a shocking amount of people who identify as "left" that think the Unabomber was too, so basically it's a very dumb and useless term now. Edit: it's like how "gaslight" was a really good and useful term to describe a specific type of manipulation and abuse, and then it got misused to oblivion and gets thrown around as "you disagree with me and I don't like it".
