It's totally alright, I think I briefly covered it on page one but to recap as quick as I can.

I have a form of neurological disorder (Functional Neurological Disorder), that is likely formed by physical trauma during childhood. This is likely, I copped a lot of physical abuse. The end result is that when I stress and get fatigued (and also can be triggered by loud noises and lights like a seizure) my brain starts to suck at telling my body what to do. I lose any sense of balance (I can't genuinely tell which way is up sometimes which is a trip), I lose motor skills (writing my name is regularly difficult to impossible a lot of the time), I lose verbal ability, I get dizzy, I start struggling to see, and if it progresses I can lose consciousness entirely.

In general it is Super Inconvenient (TM) but otherwise manageable, provided I have support. Which I typically do, but it also means travelling and doing things by myself can be hard to outright dangerous. Sudden and significant stress or fatigue when I am by myself in the city or whatever means I just kind of have to sit and recover while I am in no way able to protect or defend myself. At all. So that sucks.

Mostly I am learning to manage. Going places in pairs or going short distances, avoiding stress as much as possible (while we're organising moving and inspections woo!) stuff like that. Sadly my brain is a shithead and will deny me sleep (like last night) on the basis it is stressed, making me fatigued and more stressed because I know today my body is on a timer. I will be fine, it just makes me grumpy.

I am definitely not young, but I'm 31 and I have to consciously be aware of how my body is reacting because it can and will suddenly fail. And it throws people for a loop because I'm otherwise fit and healthy, great blood results, etc, etc. My body is better than most people my age. Except it can randomly just fail haha. Add on some fibromalgia for funsies and general pain.

Recently things got complicated because I was staying with a friend, they got drunk and suicidal and while protecting them from themselves I received some collateral damage. I have no anger towards this friend, and I would do it again to protect them. Sadly I had a few minor injuries and a concussion which a couple days later forced me into hospital. Concussions suck yo, first one I've ever had. And it's made me more grumpy and irritable about my health cause like the FND and fibro it wasn't exactly my choice haha.

One of the things it has done is swap sensory information. It is typically triggered by intimate and focused music, like listening on headphones. When this happens light is translated to pain (both a searing sensation in my brain and also progressively lighting up every pain nerve ending in my body) and weirdly translating sound to touch.

It was pretty awesome when it happened, despite needing all lights off due to ambient light hurting, but after the first couple hours you want it to go away. For me it is almost always good physical feeling, but it's triggered by EVERYTHING. Talking, walking, trees rustling, the sound of my own swallowing, everything. And it gets exhausting.

So on top of worrying about general body and brain failure I also am afraid to listen to music because it will gently caress with my senses for hours to days after it is triggered. It's really not fun explaining to someone that unfortunately them having a conversation is tickling your erogenous zones. It sucks hard.

I am in the hopes the sensory thing dissipates as the concussion does. It was wild and fun, but the day to day impact sucks.

In general tho I am really just grumpy and irritated due to a lot of things, but I am genuinely fine. I'm in and out of hospital but I'm in Australia so outside of the time commitment it hasn't cost me a dime, which I am thankful for. I've never been a self harmer, and I have no suicidal ideation, which is honestly new for me. Really, I am grumpy and annoyed, but overall fine.

I do genuinely like shitposting to vent, it allows me to post dumb comments, that are either ignored or lol'd at, and there's no pressure. I do appreciate the kindness of goons tho.

This isn't an E/N post, I promise. I don't need help lines, and I am surrounded by friends in a safe environment for the first time in my life. I have a group of medical professionals helping me manage and deal with poo poo. I'm still a nutjob, with basically every common mental illness people get from ADHD and ASD to OCD and BPD. It's cool tho, I learned to manage each one as they came up, and I will manage the physical poo poo as it comes. Survival is my main goal right now, but I also try to live to improve the lives of others around me. I cook for the household, because I like cooking and people need food and it's easier for me than them. Small things like that.

I'm okay goons. But thank you for asking :)

PS: I am so sorry about the block of text.

Nutri Grain. It's a basica bitch cereal, but I am not a fan of sugar cereal. Top three are like Special K (the ones without all the sugar add ins), Cheerios (plain ones) and Nutri Grain.

Sugar based cereal is nice, I sometimes crave Fruit Loops, but I couldn't imagine eating it regularly.

I have never seen Pumpkins on tour. On the occasion they come to Australia they never come to Brisbane unless it costs a boatload. I'm honestly fine never seeing them, I know they have a history of rad live shows but at the same time most of what I loved was Oceania at the latest, realistically it ended at Machina I/II. I do not mind keeping them as the fantasy ideal studio band, represented in albums only.

I am a fan of death of the author as you can tell.

I like orange soda and as a brain damaged person I feel justified being okay with flat coke. Not liking the sound of the two combined tho.

I can only speak from personal experience but I have never seen anyone in a steampunk outfit and thought "yeah that's loving sexy" and have it be because of the outfit. I have sometimes thought they were sexy, but it's always despite the outfit.

The basic bitch answer is Bard, because duh, I always roll a Bard. Bards are like the cool nerds. They know their poo poo but they aren't incompetent at socialising. Everyone loves Bards. If you don't it's cause you can't measure up, facts. It's also what I rolled last time I played 5E.

Besides that, I dunno, Fighter I guess. I'm the shithead D&D player that loves playing but knows it is just a game and I refuse to take it seriously. Yeah, you try and argue some rules minutiae bullshit and I won't argue, but I will laugh at you and call you a fucken nerd, ya fucken nerd.

It's all make believe game poo poo. Don't be an rear end in a top hat and ruin other people's fun for your own weird pleasure but other than that who gives a gently caress.

Druids are cool too. I've only ever met the worst players who opt for Rogues or Paladins tho.

I'm in Brisbane but yeah, it's not very far to get to a great beach (or like twenty), or to a rainforest (or at least thick forest/bush) or a bit further you get to the rural and more sparse area, keep heading inward and it'll be p dead soon.

In terms of times, Iunno, a few hours tops? From Brisbane to the Glasshouse Mountains (which is beautiful) it's only like an hour. It's really cool.

Also Colonel Cancer I don't use social media and have never seen the Minion movies so I don't understand why people get so upset at the yellow dudes. I know they're overused for lovely memes but that's all like second or third hand knowledge.

Goggles are hot tho to be fair. Overalls depending.

When you google "sexy steampunk lady" you get a sea of women in skimpy old timey outfits. When you google "sexy steampunk man" there's a bunch of barely related pictures mostly of just costume pieces for sale and then like three guys in a vest with no shirt on and some goggles. There's not enough focus on men being sexy. Hey, now I have a question even though I kind of know the answer.

Why do you think there's so little focus on men being seen as sexy?

My guess is that there's more focus on men being seen as strong and physically capable whereas women are considered more valued for physically attractiveness. Kind of tracks from what I hear from people, men should be more concerned about moving boxes or whatever heavy objects, women shouldn't stress themselves because they need to stay looking good.

I'm not even really attracted to dudes generally, but dudes are absolutely capable of being sexy.
