Well, I didn't expect Kramer to recover from his N-word tirade but if anyone...

Oh, the EP

Not my pick obviously but it would be the type of pick for most game show hosts, the old hand. Goes to show it's not what you know, it's who you know and he knows the right people as he's one of them.

Lol

I only saw the first LeVar episode and he was about what I expected. Didn't exceed expectations, but he does simply have a really pleasant voice and overall demeanor that fits the show well. However, his age definitely works against him.

He definitely improved over the week. Even by Day 2 it was a huge improvement. Given the two weeks that most hosts got, he would have been in a good spot.

However, the whole thing was rigged for Richards from the start.

I heard the new host left a generous tip at an LA diner. He signed the receipt and everything.

I already hated the million guest hosts bullshit as some ratings stunt (and then they did come out and claim it was tryouts) so if it ends up with one of the bottom tier hosts who is the executive producer I'm done.

Galaxy brain - Mike came up with the guest host roadshow circus and it was good for ratings which cemented him as good for the show and the obvious pick on Sony's part. This was probably their plan from the outset!

I think this is the most likely scenario.

I'm not going to stop watching, at the end of the day Jeopardy is bigger than its host, but this is a real disappointing outcome after months ofa anticipation.

Here's the quote

quote:

Richards told numerous media outlets, including The Ringer, that his presence was a last-minute decision: The intended host had fallen through, he said, leaving him just days to prepare. “I was never meant to be a part of that process,” he later told Broadcasting + Cable. Audiences warmed to what was widely viewed as the-show-must-go-on panache, an echo of the departed host of more than 36 years.

But two sources close to Jeopardy! tell The Ringer that that’s not an accurate depiction of how Richards came to host. Instead, a planned host had a minor conflict during one of the show’s upcoming tape days. Jeopardy! staff and crew told the host that they could work around it—only for Richards to step in and insist on hosting himself, according to the sources, one of whom described feeling surprised that Richards characterized his presence onstage as an emergency substitution.

What a sleaze.

Yeah, screw that guy. I really hope this article gains some traction, though. Honestly I think the only thing that's going to sink him at this point is if we start getting more leaks from insiders about how toxic this guy is, especially being linked to multiple discrimination lawsuits.

Saw this on Twitter too:

Seeing a bunch of people pushing back against criticism of Richards, and it just seems so astroturfed. Like, that Ringer article mentions that Richards has a lot of detractors amongst the Jeopardy super fans, but I guess he’s more comforting to the olds who probably aren’t as vocal.
