I could’ve swore these were early 90’s, but you are indeed right. They started in 1985.

I remember seeing it and never gave it a go because well, the texture sounded disgusting. I don't drink boba either.

I also never tried any of those Sobe drinks. Were they any good?

I think Orbitz satisfied something in my lizard brain that wanted to eat amphibian eggs. Other than that texture it was just okay.

But I do remember Sobe being touted as a healthy alternative to soda, and also somehow a counterculture movement. All that time I drank the green tea Sobe, thinking the green-flavored syrup was somehow as healthy as a cup of green tea. Such a dumbass :ignorance:

I never had Orbitz but I don't think I would have liked it as a kid. The floating orbs were just a weird choice.

I missed out on so much '90s stuff. Never had Orbitz. Never had Snapple. Never had Fruitopia. I did have Crystal Pepsi at one point and convinced myself that I had liked it. Boy was I in for a rude awakening when I tried it again in 2011ish.

Not everywhere. Wikipedia says Fruitopia was discontinued in the US in 2003, but some flavors were revamped under the Minute Maid brand.

Lol that commercial. I liked the white sobe but I don't think I ever thought that super sweet drink was healthy. But that was so long ago.

Less of a 90s and more of an early 2000s thing but I used to love grabbing a case of Bawls and going to a friend's house for weekend long Lan parties.

As I remember it, this basically was the turning point when the culture at large stopped simply making fun of him and admitted there's some weird value in what he does, regardless of intent.

Now he's probably gone back down a notch or two, due to our general mistrust of any given old white guy in Hollywood, but I think we like him too much to try to figure out of there's anything more specific than that

My opinion of Shatner's singing changed when I read an interview with him promoting this album. He explained that his rather unique style was a deliberate choice because of some artistic genre thing. And yeah, his cover of "Common People" loving owns.

Ben Fold produced it, iirc.

There's some real good stuff in there, like That's Me Trying where he just admits he's a fuckup dad trying to revive a relationship with an adult child of his.

Also he's a CHUD so gently caress him.

Mother Goose Rock 'n Rhyme is still very 90s in aesthetic to me. Even though it has many 80s stars and earlier. That hop to it song still gets in my head. Very low budget film that looks and feels just like anything Nickelodeon put on in the early 90s like Salute Your Shorts. Which also rules. Zeke The Plumber lives on to haunt me in my dreams, too. Finally, Are You Afraid of the Dark episodes of Pinball and Zeebo the Clown.

I don't understand but I've also heard much worse
Relevant to the recent graphic design discussion, someone on Reddit posted this graphic about the different eras of graphic design from 1980's to today. Interesting to see that each era's aesthetic doesn't really get solidified until at least three or four years in to the decade, which could be why we keep joking that the 90's lasted until at east 2002. The graphic is really big so I'll just post a link to the thread topic

That's interesting. I've never particularly cared for modern design aesthetic. "Flat" is a good word for it, because it's so colorless and tasteless (in terms of 'flavor'; not being crass).
