apropos to nothing posted:to a large degree yes. when they both arrived back in russia, trotsky and lenin came to the same conclusions about what needed to be done for the workers to gain power and the model they followed is pretty much what trotsky outlines in the transitional program. it's also important to say after the split that it wasnt like the ussr under stalin just tried to eliminate trotsky, it was anyone who was part of the left opposition, who were in large part focused around the need for greater control by the workers of the industry and the government which had both become bureaucratized and centralized during the civil war. even after the left opposition was eliminated many of the old bolsheviks who had at one time or another sided with stalin and the party majority like zinoviev, kamenev, rykov, and others who were instrumental before during and after the revolution were found guilty in show trials and executed. originally trotskyism and trotskyite were slurs against the 4th international. most trotskyists are just as influenced by lenin, luxembourg and other socialists as by trotsky. brb joining the 4th international
