Had to open a dispute because something I ordered in February hadn’t arrived and the seller wouldn’t extend the buyer protection time (which I’d’ve been happy with because the worlds hosed right now). I raised the dispute on the 30th, but now it’s showing as resolved because the item was delivered on the 26th, according to the tracking info on AliExpress. 17Track says it’s still “in transit” so what the gently caress is going on?

The seller provided fake tracking info. Raise the dispute again and add a note to say you didn't receive the item and the tracking info might be fake. Edit: my advice might be terrible here. What was the exact shipping method used? Feel free to PM me the tracking code too if you want me to look at it. yoloer420 fucked around with this message at 12:27 on May 3, 2020 |

Show them the 17track as they are very reliable. In my case Once I see it hit international on 17track I then plug it into my local aussie carriers and usually get more detailed information.

Checked again five minutes ago and AliExpress had updated with a "Refund issued." Clearly the fact that they'd faked "delivery" days before I flagged it, but only after the dispute went in, was suspicious even for Ali.

Would you trust body armour from Ali? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsHJWTAlaCY (actually from Wish, but Ali sells it) Guess how well it performs....

I've had a few sellers opt to refund rather than extend protection lately. Anyone else had this or know why it might be a thing?

A while back I ordered several battery storage cases (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33043156902.html) since I started buying packs of the generic Amazon rechargeable ones and decided it'd be smart to sort the charged ones by date and (if needed) keep the depleted ones separate. It took a month or so for them to show up and they're exactly what I wanted. The 4xAA/AAA combo design is probably the best for general use, the 8x ones that only hold AA or AAAs would be best if you're storing regular disposable batteries or are like, doing photography or something and will need multiple sets of batteries in a day or a extended camping trip or something.

If they had all performed like the first vest (the airsoft vest), then I wouldn't have bothered posting that because Wish appears to be a worse version of Ali when it comes to outright lies on the description. But I was really surprised at both sets of vests and how well they did. That said, if I ever were in the position where someone was shooting at me with a .50 while I wear bargain Chinese body armour, there would be a freeze-frame and a voice-over 'I expect you're wondering how I ended up in this mess....'

My now long dead granny used to wear coats like the one on the bottom, except they were beige and nobody pretended they were high fashion. My three month awaited mousepad arrived, and I thought that because I was ordering from an OFFICIAL STORE, I'd get quality. But nope, Aliexpress finds a way: it's the standard "we took a picture from the web, squished it to fit our aspect ratio and printed it" stuff. It looks pretty bad up close but since I've got my mouse and keyboard on it it isn't that obvious so not bad for ~19 euros. Shaman Tank Spec fucked around with this message at 10:56 on May 5, 2020 |

Good: seems well-made, print quality is good, blanket is small (as described tbf) but warm for being thin. Pillow has padding apart from the blanket so it's not just a flat envelope when you take the blanket out, which I wasn't expecting. Bad: they sent me the wrong design pillow that I could have bought cheaper at another store (as above) so put in for a partial refund.

Do you think warlords can get shipping from Ali? I guess they must be able to ship things to all the Chinese funded construction projects around the world. Maybe they hitch on that.

I know that some of the anti-government forces in Syria were using cheap Chinese rifle scopes. There is an article somewhere of them making a home made anti-material rifle that had so much recoil they destroyed a sight with every shot (the rifle lasted around ten shots or so). Also the beofang radio is basically part of the tacticool wardrobe in America and they often come from Aliexpress or Gearbest as they are cheaper than Amazon.

That's kinda the Ali et al. experience in a nutshell. You mean get a high quality item for a fraction of the price, but there's no guarantee and no dealer to hold accountable. That's how lame gamblers like me roll.

But close enough you could probably do it if you're okay with a really sketchy gun that will work once and then probably launch the slide into your face. (okay you could do the same with a piece of metal pipe and a rock) *For those unfamiliar with US gun laws, you can legally build your own guns by buying a unfinished receiver (either a untouched block of metal or up to 80% finished) and then doing the rest yourself. For example commonly with the AR15 you buy a receiver forging and drill out all the holes and mill out the internal cavities on it. It's mostly either a novelty thing for people who are hobby machinists (as the equipment will cost thousands of dollars), or for paranoid libertarian types.
