So with today's wins by the Eagles and Washington the division pretty much will come down to their game in week 16+if the Giants can stay in the race.

I'm nervous as hell.

Well, if we win against the Cards somehow next week, we can lose to the Skins and still win it - All we'd need is the skins to lose their last week and for us to win ours. The caveat here is getting Dallas to beat the Skins.

It's surprising it took the Lions this long, considering they started 1-7 (and that 1 was an overtime win to the BEARS).

If the Lions don't get hosed at the end of the Packers game and win this one they're 6-7 and only 2 games back from a wild card spot. poo poo, undo the fumble out the endzone in the Seahawks game and they're at 7-6 and have a wildcard spot. I think that loss to the Packers just completely deflated them.

AFC top seed tiebreakers are easy, Patriots clinched common games over the Bengals this week and the two Broncos tiebreaker are on head to head. Winning the game week 16 and one other game clinches a bye for both the Broncos and Bengals, only way the loser of Broncos/Bengals gets a bye is if the winner loses the rest of their games and the loser wins their other two games.

I'm pretty sure the only way the Patriots lose a bye except by losing out is by going 1-2 and having the Bengals at 13-3 and the Broncos at 12-4.

Yes. Chiefs/Jets/Steelers all need to be in if they win out. gently caress the life support division leaders just wasting playoff spots.

Can you imagine the Jets winning all their remaining games and missing the playoffs at 11-5, while one of a Brock Osweiler or AJ McCarron led team gets a bye? Come on, backups. Lose out for justice.

Yeah, presuming the Patriots beat the Titans, the only way they lose a bye is if they lose to the Jets and Dolphins and the Broncos beat the Steelers and the Bengals beat the Broncos. Otherwise they end up at worst the 2 seed.

Eh, this might be the year the Texans finally get a win in Indy. The Colts might have to use Clipboard Jesus as the starter on Sunday and the defense looked like tissue paper against the world-beater Jags.

Still, if there has been one constant in the league it is that Houston can't win in Indy. I hope to see a Rosencopter-esque collapse.

Minnesota: They must win @G.B in Wk17 to have any chance. Prior to that they must maintain no worse than a 1-game deficit, thus they'll stay alive with any combo of two of {Min wins, G.B losses}. The Titans control their destiny for the #1 pick, although most of their remaining games are winnable AFCS match-ups.

Every other 3-4 win team is in the same SoS range so it's very hard to foresee their best/worst case scenario pick #. Jacksonville, Miami, and the Giants stand out as teams that would vault up multiple spots if they lost out and other teams added a 4th/5th win to their totals.

They do, that's why they're still listed in the conference seeding race atop the NFC post. Anything below a division helmets banner is specific to that division race only, and has no information concerning wild cards.

Chargers bitch. Bosa is ours.

Also it's odd in that the tree teams picking at the top right now don't really have the same need so maybe it won't matter what the order is. Cleveland needs the QB that Tennessee and San Diego have, Tennessee needs the left tackle that San Diego and Cleveland have, and San Diego needs the DE.

Houston: Near-must-win game @Ind next week. Winning gives them a 1-game lead and t-b advantages, whereas a loss makes it do-or-die for two weeks. If they win @Ind then they could clinch in Wk16 with a win @Ten AND an Ind loss @Mia.

Jacksonville: Technically alive, but they absolutely need Tennessee to win vHou OR win @Ind OR for Hou@Ind to end in a tie. They could win the division with 7 or 8 wins, but it would exactly depend on who defeats who so that tie-breakers fall their way. More realistic scenario appears to be winning out AND a Hou win @Ind AND Ind loss @Mia AND Hou loss @Ten (and Ten@Ind would become irrelevant).

Kansas City: They split the H2H so they can clinch by tying Denver in wins (which will ensure winning the divisional t-b). Thus, clinch with any combination of five {K.C wins & Den losses}. One feasible path: win out (very reasonable), have Den lose @Pit, have Cin get a healthy Dalton back and win @Den; K.C wins divison at 11-5 due to a superior AFCW record.

I love that my Chiefs have a legitimate long-shot chance of winning the division. I expect it will come down to Denver v. Cincinnati.

WHERE MY HOSE DRINKERS AT

With the Bills being flag happy and Andy Dalton choking like he was on prime-time TV here is what it would take for the Bills to make it to the playoffs

-Beat the Cowboys/Redskins/Jets
-Steelers need to lose 2 or Chiefs lose all 3
-Jets need to lose to Cowboys or Patriots

ANIME IS FOR ADULTS
Right now it really looks like first round will be:

Minnesota @ Green Bay
Seattle @ NFC East winner

And second round:

Seattle @ Carolina
Green Bay @ Arizona

I'm not looking forward to seeing a surging Seattle team in the playoffs, let alone them getting a cupcake first round matchup and Arizona being better off as the #2 seed.

NFC East winner might be 7-9 and thus activate the losing record jinx. Teams with losing records are undefeated in the first round of the playoffs. The Seahawks tears would be glorious, especially since they started the trend by beating the Saints.

Carolina having to face both the Seahawks and Cardinals would be painful as hell, and congrats to the Patriots on their Super Bowl because everyone in the NFC will be dead.

.Can you imagine the Jets winning all their remaining games and missing the playoffs at 11-5, while one of a Brock Osweiler or AJ McCarron led team gets a bye? Come on, backups. Lose out for justice.

Can I imagine it? I had a wet dream about it.
