I have never heard of this movie and read the plot synopsis just now and wow that is some ridiculousness.

quote:

Ally and Teddy, still broken up over the situation, come visit him and feed him a mackerel.

Tears run down Wallace's face/tusks as he bellows.

Ahahaha

If you liked Tusk there's an obscure body horror film called "The Human Centipede" you'll also like.

Thematically it has no similarities. In theme it's far more similar to Watermelon Man.

Body horror is even cheaper and less valuable a theme for horror films than jump scares. It's the movie equivalent of sticking your hand into a covered bowl of spaghetti on halloween

I haven't seen Tusk but I heard the Smodcast episode where they first read the news story that inspired it and brainstormed the basis of the film

It's a good episode and a must listen if you actually like the movie.

Now I kinda don't want to see it. This'll annoy me so much. I've seen still pictures of it and always thought it was like an "off shoot" shot.

Some dude in my hometown of Brighton (England) wrote a funny fake gumtree ad (craigslist equivalent) for a housemate, who would have to dress as a walrus two hours a day to live there. I saw it because I was looking for a place at the time, and read it as a satire on how difficult it was to find a place in Brighton and sort of smirked maybe.

This was literally the inspiration for Kevin Smith's Tusk.

That was written by someone from Brighton?!!!?! Living just down the road from there and knowing the place quite well that actually makes perfect sense...

I liked Clerks and what not but his newer films aren't really my thing. I can't really fault him however because he funds everything out of his own pocket now so he can do whatever he wants for all I care.

A thinly-plotted mess that sacrifices story for cheap visual shocks, albeit one that takes itself with a refreshing lack of seriousness.

the void was pretty cool but drags major rear end in the middle. the main character is also completely useless and constantly owned which makes him very relatable

Spoiler alert, it's about a guy who thinks laying weak edgelord burns on other people through the vehicle of the internet makes him a hotshot. He's lost his empathy for other people and insists that he's really doing everyone a favor acting the way he is. He learns differently.

Which would be rad if someone else made it, but in this case, it's clearly Kevin Smith's morality play aimed at people who pick on Kevin Smith.

Are you saying Tusk is about reconnecting with the inner child? This film may indeed have layers of subtext.
