He even admits that the main reason he plays that stupid-rear end 10-string bass is because he gets "lazy and complacent" when playing 4-string basses. The old adage "a bad workman always blames his tools" is incredibly apt. If you find yourself playing boring music on a normal 4-string or 5-string bass, well then you're just a lovely musician.

I wonder if such tech could be used like an expression pedal, that'd be really cool for modulation rate or filter/wah freq: when its not touched its "off" then bend down filters out highs and bend up becomes a resonant high pass or vowel filter.
