Corgis love bread. And Puro

Volume-wise there's not a huge amount on this week, but what we've got is some reasonably big shows. The standout is the biggest annual Dragongate show, Kobe Pro Wrestling Festival, someone is going to lose their mask in a wacky, chaotic 5 way cage match, D'courage COLLIDES for the Dream Gate belt as Madoka Kikuta attempts to make his first defence against Yuki Yoshioka. All the other belts are on the line, there's outsiders Kenoh, Taro Nohashi & HIROMU TAKAHASHI, it should be real good.

Probably the next biggest show is from GLEAT as they hold Ver.6. The main event that sees Takanori Ito defending his LIDET UWF Title for the first time against the extremely violent kickboy Fujita Hayato from Michinoku Pro will be awesome, probably the single match I'm most excited for, but there's also a unit disbands match, Flamita, Kommander & Kento Miyahara all return (in one match), and there's G-REX & G-INFINITY title matches too (the latter is not so much a positive, the Saitos vs Hayashi & Tanaka isn't going to be great, the Saitos are most fun with younger wrestlers who'll just pinball around the ring for them), & it's all on Youtube. Elsewhere, Stardom have 3 titles on the line & an Indian strap match (between ostensibly Cosmic Angels stablemates? I don't get the booking of this, have I missed something?). All Japan have a show with both major singles titles defended, including hopefully Yuma Aoyagi winning the Triple Crown for the first time, all due respect for Nagata, New Japan have 2 shows promoted as Strong shows & stuck on PPV. 4000 Yen seems a pretty steep asking price but it does include both shows which are pretty intriguing on paper. I'm most excited for the prelim matches featuring FREEDOMS undercard wrestlers, less because it's good & more because it's just interesting to see Takahiro Katori & Rekka on a New Japan branded show. Oh yeah, & I'm sure Despy & Jun Kasai vs Moxley & Homicide will be a blast. Gatoh Move run a proper arena show again, headlined by Hagane Shinno vs Emi Sakura which should be a cracker, Dragongate follow on from Kobe by starting the King of Gate 2023 edition, & FREEDOMS presents the Tokyo Deathmatch Carnival Vol.1.

Oh, & Baka Gaijin + Friends are back, with their first show with neither of the founders on it: Chris obviously just recovered from an injury & not wanting to aggravate it before his big title shot in DDT, & Drew being back in the UK for personal reasons. Still looks fun, Takayuki Ueki & Mecha Mummy is a dream team I never knew I needed until I saw it written down.

Glad that people find them helpful, & also if there's any promotions I don't include (like, if you're desperate to know the lineup for every Ice Ribbon Dojo show) then just say, happy to include them. I obviously focus most on the stuff that interests me, but I know we have a lot of TJPW viewers & then a couple of GanPro watchers so I started including all their shows rather than just the ones with matches that interest me.

Also unrelated but been listening to the Jae on OTVG podcast & it's very funny & also very interesting. Jae just happily dumping on the people who do the DG Network website :allears: As someone who watches & rather enjoys GLEAT I thought it was interesting to hear "if you're a DG fan you probably shouldn't be watching the other company because they are trying to put us out of business" (a paraphrase rather than exact quote).

There's a small but completely free July 1st show, and some kind of contract signing special right after it, both to promote Kobe World tomorrow night.

Full card here - quick show with all multi-man matches, but with DG that's rarely a bad thing.

What we need is a promoter and booker who is a massive fanboy, willing to fork out huge amounts of money for cool poo poo, and has a track record of really loving Japanese prettyboys in their mid twenties. But where would we find someone like that?

Sadly such a thing doesn't exist.

I just watched the Nagoya NOAH show and gently caress me, HAYATA vs Dante Leon is probably the worst GHC Junior Heavyweight Title Match ever. Certainly the worst I've seen. Dante Leon is such a weird choice for a foreigner to bring in, he's just not any good, doesn't have a good look, doesn't have any charisma. There must be dozens of wrestlers in the US indies that would be better in this role.
