“Young journos sometimes email me and ask for advice. I don’t know what to tell you — the path I took doesn’t exist anymore” Giles says. “I don’t really have a job. I wake up, take my kids to school, write for an hour and a half, have lunch, and then pick my kids up from school. And people pay me a market-clearing rate for a thousand words, and I live pretty happily off a couple of columns a month.” He says. “Other than that, my advice is just write clearly, like you speak. And have a loving point.”

I've said it before but the Threroux doc is absolutely fascinating to watch in hindsight. Theroux is just doing his usual shtick of shaking the tree to see what falls out, but about halfway through Saville starts acting like he thinks Theroux is trying to trick him into revealling a particular secret, which obviously we now know what that is.

The public likes parliament as a pantomime but doesn't actually respect its bullshit, just as they don't respect MPs; anyone who gets thrown out on a weekly or even daily basis while openly mocking the faux-officious nature of the whole thing would probably soar in the polls. If the government tried to actually jail people on the basis that they didn't call someone the Right Honourable whatever when they accused them of murder and neglect and loving the country and its people (in those words) then I honestly can't think of anything that would endear them to people more. Remember when that Labour MP took the mace as a peaceful symbolic gesture? In the 70's Michael Heseltine picked it up and started swinging the loving thing around at Labour front benches when he was a Conservative MP, because the Labour government at the time just passed a vote regarding the nationalisation of the shipbuilding industry. Another Tory had to wrestle it off him, placed it back the wrong way round, and then multiple MPs actually engaged in fisticuffs in the chamber.

DMC's entire thing is being a really goofy B-movie with absurdly cliched lines and over-the-top action sequences and hilarious bullshit plot twists. Like the very opening of the first game is Dante sitting in his office alone when suddenly a leather-clad woman on a motorcycle bursts through the window and rams directly into him before shooting him and blowing him up. Only to then offer him a job investigating an old castle and he just basically puts on a pair of sunglasses indoors and goes "okay"

The best part is them fully embracing the goofiness. While also having a super sexy slick style battle system.
