On your deathbed the priest reading you the last rites is gonna pull off the fake mustache and you're going to realize its your douchebag roommate. Your wife for life is going to laugh at you and yell KOBE as she shoots the wedding ring into the trash can as they walk out of the hospice facility together.

Some guys did a nearly shot for shot stealth remake like a year ago, as an animated kids movie. Kept all the racial jokes even, just swapped out people for cats and dogs. I thought I was hallucinating until the Mel Brooks cameo appearance and it clicked

I think me and my mum are the only two people on the planet who didn't like Blazing Saddles. We just didn't get it. Got bored and switched it off, actually. Probably because we hadn't watched any of the stuff it was lampooning (at least, I hadn't). I just didn't have any frame of reference for the jokes it was making, so none of them landed.

My hottest take is that you could absolutely make Blazing Saddles today if it were primarily made by Black people, and this is not a bad thing.

Without watching that video I'm going to guess that, right there, is mainly why you couldn't "make Blazing Saddles Today"; Westerns are already a hard sell and a lampoon of modern westerns sounds about as fun as a root canal (see: Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger). Add in studio interference and the reality that most cinema is now being primarily marketed towards a Chinese audience and you have the makings of something that would probably still be a good movie, might have a cult following, but won't put asses in theater seats. I'd think "Idiocracy" in terms of studio support and audience reception. Regardless, Blazing Saddles is very much a product of its time, and if you tried to remake it now it would be a different movie, even if you recreated it shot-for-shot with the same script.

3D Megadoodoo posted:This stirred a memory in me. I was at the pub and this guy called Roadie was there and after saying hello he started telling me about how he was only there to have one drink because he had to, well, do roadie work the next day because there was a gig wherever and he was going on the boat on the week-end and he had promised to bring whoever two cases of whatever and so and so forth. Anyway about an hour later I just said (with no malice or anything, just to make conversation) "oh I thought you said you'd only have one?" and he started repeating "I never asked you anything. I never asked you anything. Not a drat thing." with a weird look on his face. So like I said it had been an hour or so so I was already three bottles of Lobo Loco in and kinda lost it and started (quite loudly) telling him how I'd never asked him about how he had a gig at the poo poo Hall in Ballsville and that he had promised to bring Fucko McGoober two cases of Nonce Piss from the boat and all of that poo poo. This went on for maybe two minutes. After I'd lost my steam and piped down, the bartender asked on the PA "3D is it OK if we continue with the bingo now?" and I won a bag of sweets in bingo. I like to think she's just a kindly geography teacher and it was a legitimate request. Like, point to Prague, show me where I asked.

Ikea came out with an upgraded version of the markus called the jvarfjallet, which has all the same features a fully loaded aeron does, just the arm rests don't swivel inward. Instead you get cool casters that brake when there's no weight on the seat, and release when you sit down.
