We really don't want to give up our spirituality to the most cravenly materialistic man in the world I do think that we need to be more active about our beliefs though. A lot of the liberal denominations have a real  view of not interfering with politics and they need to take an actual stance if they are going to be relevant in peoples lives again, especially as the country continues to disintegrate

As someone that grew up in Assemblies off God churches abs moderated in high school by becoming Baptist, Evangelicals put a lot more effort into segregating and brainwashing their kids than the more mainstream sects do. It real hard to break that kind of conditioning especially if you don't have a naturally inquisitive questioning attitude.

Add Christianity Today to the never ending list of the deep state liberal conspiracy. I can almost get why some people like Trump (they're mean, selfish, uneducated, racist, greedy, spiteful, classless, xenophobic assholes who want to be rich one day) and, honest to god, in a lot of ways he really IS the embodiment of what America has come to represent and what most people think of as "success". But for the life of me, I can't figure out the slavish devotion he receives from those who claim to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. Until people take a stand bigotry of all stripes is the face of churches. I don't begrudge people though. It's an intimidating fight that doesn't look like it'll have noticable gains. I've read some good stuff about how ultra-Christians reconcile their Jesus love and Trump love in their brains. My favorite is them saying that Clinton was a sleazier President because he did scummy things while in office, while Trump only did his sleazy things before being elected, which shows RESPECT FOR THE OFFICE. That's a real thing.
