IIRC HTC vive's "viverse" thing is basically a vehicle to sell NFT poo poo also what a pathetic gray lifeless alternative to vrchat

If the adaption doesn't bring anything to the table to make it worth seeing over rereading the manga then I'm not likely to stick with it.

Waffleman_ posted:I'm gonna be honest, the choreography was good, yeah, but the models, lighting, backgrounds, everything outside of that looked so awful that the best choreography in the world couldn't make them look good to me. Like, literally from the first of those teaser trailers they released, I was like "why is everyone going gaga for this it looks like poo poo" Yeah, I'd almost argue the new one is worse, at least the original was consistent. The blend of CG and drawn in this version is even more jarring. Its bad except for the occasional choreography. I'd even go so far as to say the original fights were easier to follow which was one of the reasons everyone loved it in the first place. They also somehow made the faces less expressive.

i don't think this is really a case of it ruining anything, it just seems like the most ill-conceived adaptation that may as well not exist because the outcome is so bad.

Grouchio posted:Would you rather have had nothing? Bad adaptations that detract from the original work exist. Ask about the Jitsu wa anime being a blight on a fun goofy romcom manga. With that said, I'm not wishing the adaptation didn't exist, I'm just disappointed that this is the quality the adaptation will recieve, both for potential new fans and for old fans who envisioned something with more energy. At the end of the day I'm glad it was given an adaptation, but you can still be disappointed in the result. It's not a zero sum game or anything.

I'd rather it didn't exist because the working conditions for any anime that looks this bad even at the preview stage are usually horrible even by the dismal standards of the industry.

# ? Jun 24, 2022 20:32 |

it is kind of a zero sum game in that there are a finite number of animators now stretched across 51 seasonals rather than 50, or whatever.

Tales of Woe posted:every season looks like a sequel season until the new shows start airing and people actually engage with them Not really. Some seasons are anchored by adaptations or big name projects more than long delayed sequels. Something like Spy X Family this season is an obvious example, but even projects like the new Gundam aren't "proper" sequels in the usual sense, making the season feel more "new", even if it's less exciting than a long awaited return.

Summer '22 is 12 out of 40 broadcast shows that are sequels, but it includes shows like "Overlord" and "Made In Abyss," so they cast a big shadow. Based on the new Trigger show... Summer Season 2022: At least it's better than the game was.

Just finished watching the last episode of Requiem of the Rose King. Not a bad ending, considering the constraints the story was necessarily working within, but didn't quite hit the heights of trash (affectionate) of the middle episodes.
