I really liked Summertime Rendering's manga. It had a nice plot that gets pretty clever at times and the action's good. I'm a little weary of if 25 eps is enough since the original manga's 13 volumes, but there's a lot of action panels instead of dialog and I'm sure Mickey Mouse with give them a big budget.

There's no siren big enough to contain my excitement for Machikado Mazoku S2. The first season is already quite good but the manga only gets better as it goes on and S2 will cover some of the bits where it really starts firing on all cylinders. I've been hyped for this one for a solid year now. Season 3 when Beyond that, the only shows I'm watching for sure are Magia Record Final, albeit with metered expectations, and Healer Girl, because after Princess Principal and Flip Flappers I'm gonna be pretty interested in any original project coming out of studio 3Hz, even knowing basically nothing about it. I'm very curious what folks'll end up thinking of the new Black Rock Shooter. I adored the OVA but since so much of what I like about it is how ambiguous it is I was unsure how you could expand it into a full series without invariably explaining too much, so when I heard the main criticism of the first TV series was that it spends too much time explaining things I was like "welp". I want to know if they ended up learning from that & taking a different approach. Unsure about Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road/The Executioner and her Way of Life, I tried the manga and was hooked by the amazing way the first chapter lays out its super fun premise, but lost that interest fairly quickly. Felt too... Lightnovel-y, for lack of a better word? Very in love with its convoluted worldbuilding & cadre of chuuni secondary characters in a way that distracts from the meat of the story. Idk if the anime's gonna feel better in that regard. Super stacked season, I'm so glad my extremely specific anime tastes are saving me from having to watch like 10 shows

Things I'll definitely be watching: Kaguya-sama season 3: The manga is great, and it's the 3rd season so I'm pretty much committed now. Paripi Koumei (Ya Boy Kongming!): I love 3 Kingdoms stuff, and the manga is honestly pretty funny with Kongming breaking out his ancient strategies to elevate an amateur singer to stardom. I'll be heartbroken if they gently caress this one up. Kono Healer, Mendokusai (Don't Hurt Me, My Healer!): The manga is just pure dumb fun, and while I don't expect this to be the anime of the year or anything I do expect it to be a good time. Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de (Love After World Domination): I enjoy the concept of a sentai hero dating a villain, and really they just make an adorable couple. I'm all for a solid romcom that actually has a romance in it in addition to the comedy. Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu (Skeleton Knight in Another World): My requisite isekai for the season. While the story doesn't do anything truly original with the formula, it does execute it well. Plus the protagonist has no qualms with killing slavers which is always a a relief.

Nothing that really interests me enough to check it out weekly (especially since it looks like a majority of the stuff folks are looking forward to are sequels to stuff I'm not interested in and shows that I can tell are very definitively not my thing) though as always if something gets enough buzz after it wraps up I'll certainly take a look at it. Far as anime movies go, next month will have some good ones. Bubble is going straight to Netflix. It's directed by Tetsurou Araki and written by Gen Urobuchi (for whatever his name is worth these days) so that's enough for me to take a look. And one of the best anime of last year will be getting a theatrical release: Pompo the Cinephile will get some screenings in late April and I highly urge everyone to check it out if they're able to (safely) see it. It's funny, clever, and most importantly it's only 90 minutes long! No excuses! I'm really hyped for Spy X Family. I'm also looking forward to Summertime Rendering, I really enjoyed what I read. I got busy and never quite got around to finishing it. I feel like its been way too long for Tiger and Bunny season 2 to be anything but a disappointment. It'd be nice if I was wrong, but revival of long dead shows rarely turns out well if its not adapting source material (even that is still pretty hit or miss though).

Kaguya and spy x family are a lock. The last bit of the summertime rendering manga was kind of a mess imo but still positive feelings overall so maybe I'll check that out later if it's midway through the season and people are liking it.
