Isn’t Spencer one of those fascists obsessed with poo poo like the war on masculinity, the feminization of men via SOY and the cultural imperialism of non-white European culture over Europe and North America? There’s a lot of fascists like that who only want to commit genocide in what they think are their own countries/regions and are totally fine with other countries doing whatever they want so long they never have to touch or see anything about said countries.

Spencer is also one of those white supremacists that recognizes the Persians as Aryans so his take is influenced by more than the typical anti-war or isolationist view.

Spencer focuses his fascism mainly on culture, so he apes a lot of the nazi focus on building a superior culture by going back to an imagined mythical time when that culture existed. Only for Spencer, it's pretty much just the Jim Crow South only without Black folks. He's from old money southern aristocracy, his family literally owns a plantation, so it's not exactly surprising. He taps into isolationist antiwar sentiment on the right because he (correctly) identifies that the only reason the US goes to war is for corporate profits, which is something that almost no other part of the right will ever say. Everything that flows from him from that point forward is monstrously wrong, obviously, but yeah, he uses that as a gateway.

Yeah he doesn't like war because it's not a holy crusade. Once "our house is in order" he'd be all over spreading the good word by the sword

Spencer's interest in Iran goes back a way. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Jorjani Spencer founded the The Alternative Right with a guy who is a kind of Iranian Supremacist. Not that surprising. Ethno nationalists tend to get along. Even in just a tactical sense of showing that the other wants to live separately too.

Ethno nationalists tend to get along until they don’t. Their isolationism is genuine until the moment that they’re in power. After that anything that increases their power is fair game.

Yeah, though don't count out how strange that can make bedfellows until then; see Israel actively courting white supremacist parties as allies because Muslims are the current whipping boy.

there was a time when farms were small enough that owning a farm meant you worked the land, but in general that's long past in America, and I loving hate seeing 'farmers' being used to refer to wealthy business owners who make all their money off immigrant slave labor. I don't think farm work was so much better in the past, but it's real scummy to use the image people have in their brains of family farms to prop up another class of wealthy people who make their money by owning things. Stop talking about farm owners and start talking about farm workers.

And he would STILL loving vote for Trump ‘unless they come up with a better alternative’??? The "voting against their own best interests" thing is levied against the right wing base all the time, primarily the lower class white R voters, but its not actually true. The problem is a gulf between what the left views as R voters "best interests" (primarily material needs, social services, infrastructure, etc) and what these people view as their own "best interest" (primarily emotional needs, specifically the need to have an established hierarchy). Not all, but most of these folks know full well the Republicans serve the donor class, often explicitly to the voter's own detriment, but the voters aren't walking away from the table with nothing at all. They are purchasing white supremacy from the donor class with tax breaks and fat defense contracts. Trump may be loving them over the hardest of any recent Republican, but he's also delivering the most open/blatant white supremacy, so it evens out. They wouldnt take this kind of treatment from Romney.

They may be getting hosed materially, but as long as they see people of color, women, and LGBTQ people getting hosed even worse they will be happy with Trump. You can't negotiate with these people, you have to ignore them and aim for the people who just don't vote, of which there are more than plenty.

their moral compass is centered around ensuring that everyone else is doing the right thing because that’s what they believe the Bible tells them to do; so policing everyone else’s lives and morality is their mandate. bonus points here because they think it’s saving people and the world from judgment so they’re just trying to do the right thing and are getting persecuted (when anyone disagrees or pushes back) and on that note: they are ok with (their own) suffering because they’ve been brought up that this life is suffering and the more you suffer the greater your reward in heaven. The Sunday NYT had a longform piece about despair and rural poverty, centering on the author's hometown of Yamhill, Oregon and following the lives of the members of the Knapp familyquote:Of the five Knapp kids who had once been so cheery, Farlan died of liver failure from drink and drugs, Zealan burned to death in a house fire while passed out drunk, Rogena died from hepatitis linked to drug use and Nathan blew himself up cooking meth. Keylan survived partly because he spent 13 years in a state penitentiary. quote:….Even in this presidential campaign, the unraveling of working-class communities receives little attention. There is talk about the middle class, but very little about the working class; we discuss college access but not the one in seven children who don’t graduate from high school. America is like a boat that is half-capsized, but those partying above water seem oblivious. Article is: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/09/opinion/sunday/deaths-despair-poverty.html Yamhill County went for Trump 48-40 (12 points went to Johnson/Stein/Other): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_United_States_presidential_election_in_Oregon

Even if Bernie gets elected, Republicans in Congress will stymie most of his efforts to improve these peoples' lives, and (egged on by FoxNews) they'll get angry at him for not fixing all the problems and vote even harder for Republicans in 2022 and 2024.
