One thing is that the top brass hates Trump because he calls them "dopes and babies", but their sense of ~*~honor~*~ won't let them talk back to their commander-in-chief. If Trump does attempt a coup, I can't see the military backing him, but they'd probably get behind someone else who's willing to flatter Are Troops and promise them what they want.

the military would absolutely schism in the event of a civil war and is so utterly reliant on present infrastructure to function in its current capacity that outside of running flights until the fuel stores run out it's more likely that bases go on lockdown and shoot anybody approaching until things calm down wars themselves aren't big delineated forces battling each other in coherent and logical campaigns anymore, why would civil wars be?

Yeah it'll be like Syria in that the grunts will be divided (army is mixed, marines are chuds) and vastly reduced in effectiveness, but the air force are hard core regime loyalists who have also been indoctrinated better than any other branch not to identify their targets as human.
