Question 9: I would love to see this engine form factor from days gone by make a comeback. Question 10: In my opinion this car company, more than any other, contributed more to the development of cars as we know them today than any other. Answers soon...

I feel 9 could go a lotta ways, but I stand by my answer of Ford whatever happens for 10. If we're talking specific models it'd definitely be a lot closer, but between the Model T (first truly mass-produced car), the Flathead (first recognizably modern V8 car engine), and the Mustang, they had their hand in a lot of sea changes in the way cars were perceived at large.

You can thank chevy for a constant rolling out of new models with small changes every year. And making the small block chevy that can go anything and just work.

Yeah, I was going with the SBC, which really set the bar for affordable engines that could be very powerful. I'd also throw the Powerglide in as a rather important one.

Yes, but planned obsolescence has probably had the second biggest effect on the automobile industry, period. And while it was really a gm exec (sloan) who applied it to the automotive industry, im still counting it under "chevy".

Inline-eight is the only answer (edit: and V16, because it's two I8s and thus twice as nice), everything else should be disqualified. Wankel doesn't even count as an engine, it's more of a paperweight that occasionally, when the stars align and the right blood sacrifices are made, makes a small amount of power.
