On a 2 lane expressway it takes like 5 seconds to let them by... and to the safety concern they started doing this trying to cut down on road rage, which is caused by the left lane hogs.

It's a company car and most of the time it has 2 young kids in the back seat or in traffic so it's rarely driven to its potential (which is a hell of a lot of fun, credit where credit is due to BMW) or it's at the dealership for service. We're hoping to get an Explorer for the next one but it will probably be another X5M.

The 2 lanes are mostly populated by people who know this, and as a result the right lane is usually going at about 55 or lower due to people turning off, and the left is going about 70. There is a small but steady drip of (usually young and Navy) dipshits who think this system is terrible because it hampers their ability to drive like assholes. Once or twice a week you get some guy in his lifted truck or crotch rocket or whatever that just can't stand going 5 over in a speed trap and has to go for it. These guys will ride your rear end, honk at you, and generally freak out if you don't roll out the red carpet for their antics, and most of the regulars just ignore them. We know the score, and we aren't all getting over to suit some 19 year old idiot driving around his enlistment bonus that lost 5k in value the moment his dumb rear end drove it off the lot. I have driven up and down this road for 15 years to work and back. The only people getting lit up and busted without exception are the idiots who can't go with the flow. I have literally had dozens of instances where some Billy Bob rear end in a top hat in his brand-new truck, Mustang, or whatever zooms by me only for me to come around the next couple of bends at the end of the highway to see them pulled over and getting a ticket. Maybe 50 or more times in my life I've seen this. Not to mention that there are on average a couple fatalities a year from the same dudes doing the same things. Now the freeway is a totally different story. It's SoCal and if you aren't speeding you're basically a moving target.

lol I live in San Diego country but never have reason to use the Coronado bridge or surrounding area. Yet I hear constantly about traffic problems on it, suicide jumpers, accidents, and everything else imaginable. From what I can tell it's the shittiest traffic spot in the county. Like six months ago or something a pickup truck actually flew straight off the bridge and landed in a park, killing a unlucky person below. I guess the driver was trying to swerve around new phone who dis and took a plunge!

I think Wa only really started cracking down in 12 or 13 and they made a big ol stink about it in the news.
