I listened to that Podcast about the haunted witch jail and that was cool but the other ones I checked out that were labeled as being about UFOs and aliens had the guest talking about loving chakras and astrology for way too loving long (more than a brief mention is way too long). Are the guests normally like this, Haier? Edit: Also if you're looking for asses or tits or whatever, head to Tokyo. It has so many people in it that you will see what you like pretty much every day.

This has no point or conclusion. I am a socialist and believe socialism is cool and good. I manage to annoy many Chinese party members by stating that Mao destroyed the people with the Great Leap Forward and destroyed the party with the Cultural Revolution and Deng Xiaoping implemented the KMT/GMD corporate fantasy China because Maoism has permanently poisoned the well of taking care of the people. For my follow up, I go on and state that Hong Kong, Tibet, East Turkestan and Taiwan need a genuine socialist party of the people. With Hong Kong, I can give the most evidence going from a colonial libertarian day dream to having the party of the workers backing the rich local elite and property developers leaving the young, poor and proletariat crying out for a new Hong Kong. With Taiwan, you have in my opinion gone from a crappy fascist party using the Soviet model of secret police, etc with a corruption layer on top that only went democratic because Chiang Ching Kuo said no more dynasty. Tibet, I don't know enough. East Turkestan, giving everything thats happened there, take your pick. Dumped han settlers versus police state abused natives. Maybe another flee to Kazahkstan, Mongolia etc. The biggest sad thing is when the PRC falls if it goes the same way as the USSR with a crony capitalist rentier class leaching off the infrastructure and facilities built before. Other options include a flourishing of cults, right wing backlash labelling anything left of centre as a return of the CCP so we need blood, faith and soil. Or maybe we get a new romance of the kingdoms style with another South China, North China, West China.

I think you can be a socialist and unless you are trapped in a vicious cycle of reciting holy scripture dogmatically at dissenters like a religious lunatic you can see china's government for what it is: terrible. really god damned awful. just the worst.

Every time i see people like that in the wild I just think that the CCCP didn't, and DPRK/CCP doesn't want to abolish religion. they want to replace it haha that we still have these people, so long after the fall of the CCCP and WAY after the CCP gave up trying, a lot of people have fully internalized communist propaganda as a religion. Seriously either these people were very religious prior to going hard left in retaliation and didn't learn how to think before this happened or something just snapped, because dogmatic communists talk exactly like the evangelical christians i used to know. The exact same ideas, the exact same mental exercises to overcome doubt, the exact same kind of self-motivating self-sustaining evangelical outlook on the world. Except they've just ciphered in communist words for religious.

one hypothesis karl jaspers poked around at for why all the religious poo poo that has happened in the world happened in a short-rear end amount of time (the Axial Age) was that it was a great reaction to the depredations of the first sophisticated currencies and capitalistic societies popping up, because capitalism is, despite being spiffy, pretty drat corrosive to society if you think of religion's societal purpose as that, it seems communism could serve a pretty drat similar purpose

i mean, you can do good charity and have nice religious-based moral foundations and stuff without ADAM AND EVE RODE ON TOP OF DINOSAURS WHEN GOD KILLED THE GAYS AND JESUS LOWERED ARE TAXES, but it ends up being that a lot of the religious people who try to use religion to unfuck their head end up that way. i tend to believe there's a selection effect, where all the people who do it successfully just do it successfully and become nice people and poke at helping their cause and the times where it fails become incredibly extreme so the STALIN DID NOTHING WRONG POL POT WILL LIVE AGAIN people were not right in the head, it's just that people who use socialism to get right in the head successfully just go off and do quiet things, leaving the dregs

Lol At this point i think you need to apportion at least 50% of the blame to the institution. I worked in museum conservation and a really basic fundamental rule is that visitors might be okay in general but there will eventually be one that is loving stupid or touchy. You need to plan around minimising the potential impact of visitor stupidity by, for example, not arranging your exhibits like a line of loving dominos!
