Gathering very rare materials presents additional challenges beyond just completing an Elite queue. Because these materials are hard to come by, we wanted to make sure that if you were rewarded with very rare materials that you'd know which specific material you'd be getting. This means that each queue, based upon where it takes place (ground or space) and a few other factors will only reward one type of very rare material. For instance, playing an elite space STF against the Borg, like Khitomer Vortex, will reward Trellium-K from all Advanced packs earned while playing that queue. Likewise, playing an elite ground queue against the Undine such as Undine Infiltration will reward :siren:Dentarium:siren: from all Advanced packs earned while playing that queue. To help players keep track of what potential very rare material can be obtained from a given Advanced pack, that very rare material will be listed parenthetically in the name of the pack (e.g. Advanced Queue R&D Material Reward Package (Trellium-K)).

I suppose it is one (relatively significant) motivation to play more than the usual three or four STFs in the queue. They really should take a look at some of the older ones and revamp them a bit so they aren't such a slog or confusing. Ground combat has definitely improved since release, but it could definitely use some touching up in the queues if it's going to be a requirement for farming crafting materials.

Two caveats though:

- This will make Buschmaki's IGE forays much more hilarious
- This will make a lot more of the 'dont want to do shooty shooty to craft' crowd a lot angrier, which is also hilarious.

That's kind of annoying, like in the old days you had a large chance of getting Shields from KSE meant you'd be stuck with a lot them and not so many Deflectors or Engines unless you ran the other STFs. So again, if you grind one thing you'll only get one type of Material consistently.

This is a pretty annoying thing for them to do because Infected Space is the only STF I trust random PUG teammates to not gently caress up. I PUGed Cure Space once and it was miserable, and Hive Onslaught was a DNF after many, many deaths.

http://gateway.startrekonline.com/#char%28Vulpes%20Inculta@wooliewool%29/ship-equipment
Also I have a new ship, and stuff. The fluidic space set is only two pieces because I haven't finished the Undine reputation and I ended up getting the wrong kind of core and will have to do the core over again. :downs:

I still have my D'deridex and IIRC its loadout is:

Elachi Beam Array Mk XII [Dmg]x3
Elachi Beam Array Mk XII [Dmg]x3
Elachi Beam Array Mk XII [Dmg]x3
Enhanced Bio-Molecular Photon Torpedo Launcher Mk XII
Elachi Beam Array Mk XI [Acc] [Dmg]x2
Elachi Beam Array Mk XI [Acc] [Dmg]x2
Elachi Beam Array Mk XI [CrtH] [Dmg]x2
Kinetic Cutting Beam
Vulnerability Locator Mk XII [+Dis]
Vulnerability Locator Mk XII [+Dis]
Vulnerability Locator Mk XII [+Dis]
+Weapon power console Mk XII [Blue]
Enhanced RCS Accelerator Mk XII [+HullHP]
Enhanced RCS Accelerator Mk XII [+HullHP]
Enhanced Neutronium Alloy Mk XII [+HullHP]
Same science consoles as the Mogai above
The same fleet singularity core as on the Mogai
Complete Adapted MACO set Mk XII (shields, engines, deflector)

Tac: Torpedo High Yield I, BFAW II, Torpedo Spread III
Tac: Tactical Team I
Eng: Emergency to Weapons I, Engineering Team II, Emergency to Shields III, Eject Warp Plasma II
Sci: Hazard Emitters I
Sci: Science Team I, Transfer Shield Strength II, Gravity Well I

The D'deridex usually gets second place in Crystalline Catastrophe but the Mogai got first on my first try! :toot:

I really need to figure out better escort tactics though because the Mogai falls apart really easily when it pulls too much cube aggro.

Yeah, I'm finding myself wielding two ships depending on what stfs I'm running. For crystal and azure, I run my carriers because 4 frigates + broadside faw puts out plenty. For infected space though, I bring the vet ship (or dyson if fed, because gently caress the chimera's look) as carriers don't lend themselves well there due to slower turning rates.

Woolie Wool
Jun 2, 2006

For Crystalline Catastrophe using an escort is kind of a pain in the rear end even though I placed better, because while the D'deridex can circle around the Entity at a distance and avoid almost all damage, I have to keep the Mogai moving slowly (if at all) and facing the Entity, which means I get hit a lot more and death is a very real possibility.

Do not ever use dmgx3. It is the most worthless thing ever. Go with accx3 if you PVP or crtdx3 for PVE.

Really? I've never trusted the Random Number Gods that much, I figured something that does a little more damage all the time is better than something that does a lot more damage on occasion. Especially since I don't have any Romulan Operative boffs aside from Tovan Khev right now.

Lagomorphic

Yeah but because of the way damage gets calculated you get almost no extra damage from [dmg] mods. It only adds 10% of your base damage so thats +10% of the damage you get out of a common mk I gun without tac consoles or skill points in weapons.

[acc]x2 [ctd] is a pretty affordable combo and is really good if you mostly PVE and don't want to swap guns everytime you PVP. Or just get romulan plasma with [acc]x2 for all purpose or [crtd]x2 for PVE stomping.

I'll keep that in mind for any future ship builds I do. One day I'm going to dig up the Scimitar and re-outfit it with Romulan plasma weapons, so I'll probably use [CrtD]x2 for those.

(which means I'll need to buy more fleet consoles, so I guess I'd better start farming)

Just a heads up for any pure PVE'er in this game: It's tuned for those utter fuckup pubbies to be able to complete. If your core BoFF skill build is good then your actual ship gear is largely irrelevant. Don't stress over getting specific gear at first - it makes it easier but its in no way required to still excel at all the PVE content.

What I'm saying is don't be afraid to use mk XI white space lasers until you're space rich if you don't PVP. It really won't stop you beating all the pubbies in a DPS race regardless.

Of course if you PVP then disregard all this because having best in slot everything is really loving important there.

Crit Damage isn't especially worth it either. Crit Damage is only especially worth it if you're critting often in the first place. Romulans have a fairly significant leg up on this via Romulan Operative(1-2% per bridge officer depending on the rank of Operative. You yourself as a Romulan can also take it as a trait, it's the 1.5% version), but there ain't that much raw Crit Chance to be had in the wild.

Your base Crit is 2.5%.

Every weapon can get CritHx2(x3 is theoretical, but put it this way, most of weapons that have it are special in some way, like the Experimental Romulan Plasma Beam Array). So per weapon is 4%.

Assimilated Module(Borg Rep) grants 0.92%.

Accuracy Overflow(That is, accuracy over 100%-the base is 95%, not counting the target's Defence%, which is affected by whole bunches of things, including movement speed(Never stop moving EVER)-turns into extra crit chance and crit damage) grants some, but as far as I'm aware no one knows the exact conversion rate.

Fleet grants the Vulnerability Locators which are 1.6% per one. There's also the max Dyson Rep Auto Targeting Modules for Accuracy.

The Dyson deflector grants 5% Accuracy for Overflow.

Nukara rep has the Particle Converter universal console granting 10% extra accuracy for Beams only.

Accurate trait, of course. 10% Accuracy.

I'm sure I've missed plenty. Long story short, it's hard to get raw crit chance high, so crit damage isn't as useful as you'd like.
