Casual has, at some point, split into three different meanings: "people with limited time to play", "people who aren't interested in difficult content", and "the 20,000 people who are somehow brickwalled by A4N, but are still trying". The first group hoped the relic would be for them, the second expected the relic would be for them, and the third got their relic.

There has been nothing new or interesting since HW came out, everything is just a rehash of older content. That makes sense for a game like Wow, but FFXIV isn't that old, you'd think they could still innovate a bit. I did the same. This game at present has two game modes: 1. Ridiculously difficult content that a tiny fraction of the players have cleared. 2. Endless tedium as you repeat the same trivial content over and over and over again. Something in the middle would be nice. Hell, I can't imagine the people who enjoy type 1 are having that much of a blast with only 4 bosses per 6 months.

I am glad they unmasked the skinner box and the player base is finally mad, now all the wow nerds can take revenge on ffxiv players making comparisons to every feature in wow by making comparisons to how the legendary questlines in wow weren't so bad and how the garrison is way better than diadem and etc

It's very obvious that the daily quests are meant to be the drip feed casual option due to that it is very obviously paced the rewards so you will have 20 of each roughly around the time 3.2 launches. The amazing thing is that many genuinely casual players who joined the game recently, not people with a /playtime of hundreds of days who have been playing since 2.0 and avoid anything remotely challenging, don't have these tribes leveled at all so they're sort of hosed.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just make all the Beast quests give the reward. Would it really break the game if you could get 9 Sahagin rear end Tokens and 3 others in a day instead of 3 of all 4?

I have LTW / GSM / CUL specialist stones, and a kinda-melded crafting set (687 craftsmanship, 642 control, 368 CP) which I wanna know if I should try to get upgrades for or if I can actually make three of these pieces on my own?

Hildibrand is the Michael Scott of FFXIV. He's cringe-worthy, but he makes the characters around him much better, and without him they don't have energy to bounce off each other.

I could deal with the beastman grind for the relic pieces just fine, if it weren't for the absolute bullshit crafting pieces. Those were bad enough for the Zodiac weapon, but this is just cruel and unusual.

Crafting is actually factually trivial. The materials are all easily gatherable and finding a specialist crafter is not rocket surgery.

The crafting mats are quite tame, the only remotely tricky part of the actual crafting process is that the recipes are specialist (otherwise they're level 60 1-star synths, which have reasonable gear requirements), and you have until you finish with the real grind to get the crafted stuff sorted out. So I did some napkin math on how I could personally pace myself without going crazy, and the results are: 39 days of old beast tribe dailies = 9 of each token 40 days of running Alex twice a day (that's 2 of one Alex floor per day, not 2 of each Alex floor per day) = 2 of each token Last 9 tokens, over 40 days, would require an average of 306 poetics and 306 law per day - Law will probably flow in faster than poetics, so Alex can be imbalanced in favor of the ones that substitute for poetics Running maps semi-regularly would reduce the poetics/law requirements, by an amount I can't calculate without knowing drop rates gently caress hunts, so allied seals are a non-option Vil fucked around with this message at 05:18 on Dec 17, 2015 |

The only kinda deciding factor in terms of class gearing is what you do with the weekly end-game currency used to purchase gear with but even that isn't going to lock you into anything. Also, if you care to, you can use one of these codes for Refer-A-Friend bonuses, like an exp-boosting helmet and tokens to buy leveling gear: S5EK7PN7 or 7GUAGRK6 Chyea fucked around with this message at 07:55 on Dec 17, 2015 |

Does it even affect a single AoE in the entire fight? The change only affects generic circle, line, and cone aoes. I don't think anything in Thordad uses those.

Guys help, I'm gearing up my first 60 and I'm having difficulty making gear choices. I'm a scholar and I have the 170 Law right side + a 200 eso ring and also the 185 dungeon drop right side. My left side is the crafted 185 sky pirate set and a 170 Law weapon. My question is: is the 185 plague doctor left side better than the crafted HQ sky pirate set and also would upgrading my right side to 180 be better than the 185 dungeon drop greens?
