They're already pivoting to "we're gonna stand up to this tyranny by establishing our project elsewhere, join our discord for more details!" so it's not like this has really put an end to things, I'm sure we'll be hearing about this in a year or so after the Indiegogo campaign.

lol dumbshits, if you had that kind of loyal following eager to throw that much money at your product you wouldn't be using crowdfunding, you'd have huge distribution deals

TheDiceBagLady posted:It's so weird, where did all the mega fans come from? Two things: 1). The creators' previous projects have been crypto and NFT schemes, which are the perfect place for rounding up dumb suckers with more money than sense. It's unsurprising that a game all but billing itself as a hot investment you should get in on the ground floor of now now now (we will NEVER reprint these cards!!! You can get your own exclusive IP rights to characters!!!) that's slathered in the latest genAI bullshit would attract similar diehard dumbasses. 2). That said, there's a lot to suggest that a bunch of the backers are actually just multiple accounts being used to juice the numbers, including some of the creators involved just directly funding it as well. The reasons for doing this can range from making the project look more successful than it actually is to pull in more backers via a hype train to actual literal money laundering. The comments section is like half love-bombing that sounds like people reading off a script and half some guy named Anthony Pavelich who's replying to everyone who posts anything even vaguely skeptical with some of the worst attempts to "own them" I've ever read. Also this confirms that the reason the project is being shut down, per Kickstarter, is the inclusion of NFTs: https://boardgamewire.com/index.php...n-over-nft-use/

Edit - NM, kickstarter does have anti-money laundering systems in place. Edit 2 - VVV apparently they have anti-fraud type things in place. Maybe that's what tripped and caused the project to be canned rather than the announced reasons of NFTs. Z the IVth fucked around with this message at 13:11 on May 9, 2024 |

I saw on Reddit that CMON announced a new expansion (and reprinting) of Dune: War for Arrakis. https://gamefound.com/en/projects/cmon/dune-desert-war Anyone have any experience with this? I normally couldn't care less about CMON and their figure fests, but I admit I heard a lot of really positive comparisons to this game, comparing it to War of the Ring. I do have a friend who did the KS for the original, but they messed up his box and he was missing a tray of essential figures so we haven't been able to play. And they pretty much send him weekly emails saying they are working on it, but don't have the replacement yet...

The Kickstarter for Rove just launched. It's basically from the team that brought you Crimson Scales - but it's a whole new campaign game. I've been watching it for a long time since a lot of my Frosthaven playtest buddies are running it. So if you want a(nother) co-op fantasy game, it looks pretty slick. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/addaxgames/rove

Been working on this idea with my creative partner for a year+ and I'm trying to find different places to show it off. Basically it's rock-paper-scissors with a little more strategy. If you're familiar with Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, we kinda accidentally combined Restricted RPS with Emperor Card. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hyperheartcom/gotchacards The core game is designed for 2 players. To win, you must earn points by defeating your opponent's cards and putting them in your victory pile. Generally speaking, each card is worth one point. Both players take turns placing cards face down, then reveal them all at once and evaluate them each by lane. + If your card beats your opponent's card, you've won this battle. Take both cards and place them in your victory pile + If your card is unopposed, this counts as a "win". Take your card and place it in the victory pile. + If both cards tie, place them in the trash area Whoever has the most points based in their victory pile by the end of 3 turns wins the round, and players play a best-of-3 for a full game. I've put together full instructions on gameplay and setup here, as well as the 2-4 player party mode: https://gotcha-cards.com/howto The goal of this project was to get as far as we could on our own, and get it into a state where we could actually ship decks out within the same year. No additional development time is needed, just need to figure out how to get the word out and place our first big order. I'd say that response from playtesting with friends and strangers (when given the opportunity) has been positive, and many of those people have already backed the project. I'm working with local card/game shops to do demo events but getting the word out online has been kind of tough, and if anybody has any tips on how to get strangers online interested I'd really appreciate it. If y'all have any questions, or if there's stuff that isn't clear I'm happy to answer them. EDIT: forgot to add this, but also I made this animation to try and hype up the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pb6rF_SwYiM TheComicFiend fucked around with this message at 16:23 on May 15, 2024 |

Here is kind of an odd question; does anyone else find this particular crowdfunded game to be really in poor taste? https://gamefound.com/en/projects/meeple-pug/dark-blood#/section/component-analysis-44466 A Youtube guy I have mixed feelings about came on due to autoplay while I was painting and it was not convenient to change off the video and he was talking about this campaign and how "cool" the gimmick was, and when I looked up to see the gimmick, it is that the game comes with a miniature tree/gallows things with little nooses that you hang the peasant minis with? It just seemed really, really crass and in bad taste to me, but I am wondering if I am just being overly sensitive to this?
