It's been a social/moral thing for ages, it is integral to believing that capitalism can work for you because you can get to the top if you try hard enough, I really don't think anybody is going to be convinced by coming up with a new name for the same thing.

After McWhorter, sadly the answer is "take an entire series of linguistics courses so you can then understand the material". They're not like, crazy advanced ideas that you can only touch in grad school, but they assume at least a basic framework and knowledge of broad concepts. So I'd effectively have to give you like 4-5 books to be read in sequence since they build on each other. I keep meaning to just type up old lectures as like a blog thing, but  and I don't know how much of an audience there is for Some Jackoff's Essays (that are just his classes but with like doodles).

(Stunning twist : sounding like Hitler is not very popular in the modern German-speaking world.) The closest parallel would be someone today speaking English with a Mid-Atlantic accent or something. The dude in Inglorious Basterds actually did a really good job of mimicking Hitler's accent, if you want a modern-ish film that goons have seen.
