I think Jerry is probably an OK guy on a personal level but he's certainly bought into his own hype. I can't find the clip but he goes and visits a friend in Las Vegas and opens for him at some venue. The jokes were some of the most boring, rehashed late 80's jokes I've heard since, well, the 80's. It was especially unfunny because he had no charisma on stage, maybe he was tired. That said, I think art often comes from adversity (in that I think that statement is often true). He's so far removed from adversity that he's lost his wit and just spends his time bitching about other comedians.

Good comedy takes a lot of work and when you’re sitting on and endless pile of cash it’s hard to convince yourself that you need to put the extra effort in to make something truly funny, especially when you can just coast on endless goodwill.
