Holy hell. We have two positive COVID babies. Vertical transmission. Two more are PUIs from exposure to their positive mums. One of them is a 25 weeker. His lungs - I have NEVER seen anything like it. The closest thing would be like a 6 month old severe chronic lung disease/bronchpulmonary dysplasia kid who has been vented for months. It is INSANE how sick he is.

A parent knowingly sent their child to school after receiving confirmation of a positive COVID-19 test, exposing more than 80 students to the disease on the first day of school, the Washoe County Health District said Wednesday.

The parent has also tested positive for COVID-19 and has refused contact with the school district and health officials.

The Washoe County School District would not say how many students at Marce Herz Middle School they excluded on the second day of a new school year. Those who were notified can't return until Aug. 20 if they have not been fully vaccinated.

"We are asking everyone, especially parents with children in Washoe County schools, to please cooperate with disease investigators regarding positive COVID-19 cases," the health district said in a statement.

"It’s imperative that we collect information from positive cases in order to reduce transmission in the community."

The health district said during the investigation at Herz Middle School, the parent refused to communicate with staff.

"This led to a presumably infectious child attending school two days after being notified of a positive COVID-19 test result. The parent, who also tested positive for COVID-19, also refused to communicate with the school," the health district said.
