Yeah that was what was putting me off buying the thing until I checked if anyone had experience with it. I'd probably only feel safe launching that software inside of a sandbagged virtual machine. This one looks way better though, thanks.

I got these bone conduction bluetooth headphones in the mail yesterday.

Sound quality is better than expected and the bluetooth has been interference-free so far. I can listen to music while still hearing other stuff around me (including conversation).

I listened to them for about 2 hours today and the battery is apparently still at 90%.

Note that "ADZUKI BEAN®" is inexplicably missing from the side of the actual product.

Couple of pages back but thanks to your recommendation I also ordered these and I just received them today. I was interested in using them for listening to podcasts on a bicycle, e.g. commute to work but still hear when the cars are about to crash into me. And also in bed for not bothering my wife.

They are surprisingly good! I'd never tried bone conducting headphones and it's kind of strange, you can slightly "feel" the music and being able to hear over it is weird too. They don't seem to get very "loud" but I'm not sure if that's a limitation of the bones or of the headphones.

My wife tried them and has also requested a pair. Mine also didn't say "ADZUKI BEAN" on the side, which is pretty disappointing.

Yeah, I don't think they'll get super-loud without causing vibration and discomfort. My Trex Airs start buzzing the sides of my head if I crank the volume, but for podcasts, audiobooks or phonecalls I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Has anyone found a decent retro console emulator? The one I bought months ago for NES has 620 games, 600 of which are obscure crap, and the 20 are not anything I’m thrilled about.

Anbernic and Powkiddy make good ones, there are probably a bunch of others but those are the two brands I’ve used.

I’ve bought the Anbernic RG351 as gifts for nephews and I’ve got myself a Powkiddy RGB10 Max which I love, I appreciate the bigger screen with my old eyes.

There’s a thread for them here.

A new3ds can also emulate anything ps1 and below, as well as play ds games, and you can just :filez: poo poo via QR codes nowadays.

8bitdo and I guess other bluetooth controllers also work with your phone, which can do a lot if you have a decent enough one. I have a redmi note 10 and supposedly that can handle up to gamecube and wii!

Unfortunately I’m looking for ones that will plug up to a large TV (unless I’m missing that these will plug in to HDMI or something). Trying to give the old school console experience - thought about plugging my external HD (w/ an emulator on it) into the TV and getting some wireless USB controllers, but not sure how that would work.

I’ll keep reading the thread as time permits.

Yeah you're probably looking for a pi type thing and some wireless xbox one or 8bitdo controllers, modern ones are all bluetooth. You can always use an old laptop too, if you have one hanging around.

Currently the best bang for the bund retro handheld is the $30 SF2000, check youtube reviews.

Or you get a temu new user coupon and get a 35xx or Miyoo mini plus with $10+- discount. They have the same spec.

What’s the new user discount these days? I’m more on for the retro controller (not looks, meh) but especially the games. I’ve been playing emulators on PC keyboard for years, so almost anything would be an upgrade controller-wise.

Tecmo Super Bowl and RBI baseball, etc. I’m hoping that GB-35 isn’t the same 620 game slate of junk and repeats (seems to have AV cables too?) Too bad the SF doesn’t have NES.

I had a bathroom speaker for a while, but then I got tired of pairing.

My current solution is a car magnetic holder on the other side of my shower glass door. So I just put my phone to it and dial up the volume.

(obviously you can still add a speaker to the setup. But I don't want "hold 3 seconds to turn on off" button anymore, I want physical button.)
