It's really kind of schizophrenic that the game is both so deathly afraid that you'll miss a single loving sidequest by turning it down, yet also encourages savescumming out the rear end.

If anyone's wondering how to unlock companion quests, just do things they approve of, for Cait as an example, drink booze, pick locks and be a sarcastic rear end in a top hat to everyone in conversation and she'll eventually open up and give you a quest.

Of course the time she chose to give me her personal quest was right in the middle of Super Mutant territory so her heartfelt conversation had Super Mutants yelling "DIE NOW HUMAN" and "STUPID LADY" in the distance.

You can walk away from a conversation and start it up later without issues.

Base Building
# E and TAB can be used instead of RETURN and ESC in most cases. The scroll wheel can be used to move objects you want to put down closer/further away from you (but only when you've got them centered in your view because Bethesda).

# Traders sell work orders which turn into Resources once you put them in your workbench. Ghouls like to drop adhesives.

# NPCs drop their poo poo (like purified water) in the workbench as well. Check for it under the non-junk tabs.

# After hitting the transfer button in the workshop screen, you can apparently (haven't checked myself) scrap your items from there instead of throwing them on the ground.

Other poo poo
# You can save in the middle of a conversation.

# Craft all of them molerats and radioactive bugs into health if you're low on stimpaks.

Yeah the cooked food is really good - no radiation and heals a lot of HP.

You can find other power armor frames out in the world. I've also heard you can buy them, but I don't know from where.

As bad as the dialogue in this can be at times, I like a lot of the reactive commentary your companions have to things going on around them, like Valentine's reaction to the Mysterious Stranger when he shows up. Does every companion have a unique piece of dialogue for those occasions or is something that only certain companions will have here and there?

Auto lean annoys me because while it does work most of the time, I'd rather have that control in my own hands.

Plus being able to lean yourself means you can do dumb little lean dances.

Valentine actually has a whole case file on the Mysterious Stranger in his house, it's kind of cute even though "characters in the game recognise gameplay elements!" is pretty overdone.

Yeah, I was very confused when I found a "Short Assault Rifle" and it ended up being semi-auto. I don't think Bethesda knows what "assault rifle" means.

If the regular guys with flamers are killing you, save that quest for much later. You fight a boss in power armor and a flamer guy in a tiny room at the end.

Any other good battle rifle candidates?

Rad storms made it kinda impossible to keep that mechanic.

You'd just see it gather and then wait for it to pass. It was also really broken in the other 3D Fallout in how you could essentially reset faction reputations by leaving through a loading zone and wait 3 days on the spot.

Meanwhile in Fallout 1/2, you'd try that, you'd "wake up" getting shotgunned at point blank.

*waits for misterbibs making another retarded comment about how Fallout 3 was better because it allowed that*
