I can easily see a good bump from this. Lends 100% credibility to all his bemoaning of the media being liars and frauds.

It's probably not anything that could sink him without a smoking gun, but there are also old rumors among dems that he slept with a lobbyist who had an abortion and that he has a secret family somewhere in Florida, but no one's gotten anywhere with those claims despite investigation.

quote:

The chairman of the Republican National Committee claims he isn't worried about Donald Trump running as a third-party candidate in the general election should he not win the GOP nomination. Reince Priebus told the Today show that the speculation over whether Trump will abandon party lines doesn't have basis. "I don't see that happening," he said, adding that: "if Hillary Clinton is going to get beat, she has to get beat by a Republican." Priebus said the crowded field—there are currently 16 Republican candidates—will make for a stronger race.

Reince this is how you get a Trump third party run.

So if they chose him he'll screw the election for them because he's a disastrous candidate, and if they don't choose him he'll screw the election for them because he will run as a third party and absorb all their nutcases. I can't think of a more effective weapon against the GOP than Donald Trump.

There's no real mechanism for Trump to really run 3rd Party at this point. At best he could go the Nader route and get some existing 3rd parties to make him their nominee, but it's pretty unlikely he makes it to even the 43 States Nader did in 2000. Especially this late in the game with nominations already happening. Most likely it'd be a handful of States with Trump on the ballot and a few more with him eligible as a write in. As a result the media will stop covering him, and that sweet, sweet media attention is what he really craves.

The threat to make an independent run is just Trump's attempt to ensure he doesn't get exiled from the media circus he pines for and his "dignified" out.

Yeah general exit polls didn't care about the black vote that far back (they have a non-white category back to 1952 but that's it), I've read a few academic papers giving estimates and they're all in wide agreement that Herbert Hoover was the last Republican to get a majority of the black vote, before him they probably all did going back to Lincoln. Nixon/Goldwater/Nixon is the real demarcation point where the GOP loses the black vote forever.

I honestly don't care too much about what email crimes she did or did not commit, since she's still the only candidate running who would be able to strongarm good judges and SCOTUS Justices onto the bench for the next eight years. Inside Rand Paul's Downward Spiral

Politico posted:

Rand Paul, once seen as a top-tier contender, finds his presidential hopes fading fast as he grapples with deep fundraising and organizational problems that have left his campaign badly hobbled.

Interviews with more than a dozen sources close to the Kentucky senator, all of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity, painted a picture of an underfunded and understaffed campaign beaten down by low morale.

They described an operation that pitted a cerebral chief strategist against an intense campaign manager who once got into a physical altercation with the candidate’s bodyguard. And they portrayed an undisciplined politician who wasn’t willing to do what it took to win — a man who obsessed over trivial matters like flight times, peppered aides with demands for more time off from campaigning, and once chose to go on a spring-break jaunt rather than woo a powerful donor.

They sketched a portrait of a candidate who, as he fell further behind in polls, no longer seemed able to break through. Paul, lionized as “the most interesting man in politics” in a TIME magazine cover last year, was supposed to reinvent the Republican Party with his message of free-market libertarianism, his vision of a restrained foreign policy, and his outreach to minorities.

Hillary was pro-Universal Health Care back when she was First Lady and tried to spearhead a campaign to get it through Congress. It's why Republicans call her a Socialist. She'll go for UHC again if she gets to be POTUS; Wall Street doesn't care dick about the Private Insurance Market, and in fact, UHC would save huge banking/financial corporations millions (if not billions) of dollars on employee health benefits.

Yeah Hillary's history on being pro UHC is quite solid. It's one of the things that there's really not too much room to attack her from the left on.
