Got into my new apartment, stored some stuff, got the internet set up. Getting my furniture in on Saturday. For a company with as lovely a reputation as theirs the Comcast rep I talked to didn't try to argue with me and insist that I should really bundle with cable and telephone.

Edit: Didn't raise a fuss about me supplying my own modem either. Bizarre.

Comcast sucks. I'm glad that I don't have to put up with their poo poo anymore. After one really helpful rep got me a (legit) deal that shaved a few bucks off my bill and got me better bandwidth, the fuckers in billing tried to charge me for equipment that I explicitly told them not to send me but which they sent anyway. TWC hasn't been too bad, although they do seem to have a fair number of outages. I really miss having FiOS, though. That poo poo rules.

The major advantages of fiber to the home internet are generally much higher upload speeds, guaranteed download speeds (no such thing as "best effort" in the fiber world), as well as no peak time slump in internet speed (this is loving huge because cable speeds drop like a motherfucker at peak usage times due to line interference from your neighbors)
