Ordinary Corrupt Human Love is so loving great. The way the songs play with nostalgia while subverting expectations is rad. They’ve developed a sense of using space and dynamics in their music that I don’t hear used this well often. Deafheaven is sounding more and more like a band bringing together a huge variety of ideas into something sincere and not aiming do any of it in an attempt to be quirky or proggy or whatever. Might just be me but I’m hearing a lot of Smashing Pumpkins influence on this album.

definitely has more post rock than shoegaze this time around. 7/10 for me. Good but not great, no "oh poo poo" riffs

New Bermuda took a while to grow on me but now I view it as my favorite album of theirs. Feel like it's too soon for me deliver a verdict on this album but I'm not immediately blown away by it. Very excited to see them live in a couple weeks though!

It has weird depth and the atmosphere is hard to pin down. Getting used to it over multiple listens is bringing out a lot more. I listened to half of New Bermuda and dropped it. I’ll be sure to give it a chance again.

I was listening to Badmotorfinger and I must confess: I love me some spontaneous wind instruments in my metallic-sonatas an' poo poo. What are some great metal bands with sick Sax/Trumpet riffs? (Doesn't have to be just Sax and Trumpet, of course).

I have no reasonable explanation for this other than that they were cheap and I'm really stupid about what I buy. quote:A lot of Pro-Pain fans consider this the band's best album but that's because those said fans' homes are replicated on the cover of the album. Yeah we've talked about sax at least a couple of times recently. But BTBAM's Voice of Trespass is worth adding to the pile, even though I still think they haven't put out a really good album since Parallax.il_cornuto posted:We've talked about how great sax can be a few times in this thread, there's some stuff posted here and here if you're looking for more. Also, not really metal but I loving love Sweep the Leg Johnny's Going Down Swinging: looks like we had saxchat in march, may and now july so I guess we're on a bimonthly cycle at this point. il_cornuto fucked around with this message at 16:36 on Jul 17, 2018 |

Update that no one asked for on the Blake Judd/AMM bootleg Judas Iscariot shenanigans: It would appear Bandcamp has put a lock on them until they fulfill existing orders of the DiSN bootleg and other merch they have been neglecting to ship out. We're way past the benefit of the doubt, they've been dodging people's emails and only responding when a Paypal claim is put in. Hopefully this is one step closer to removing AMM/Blake from Bandcamp.

I'm pretty stoked for the Revocation US tour because Exhumed is on it, and somehow my Exhumed shirt from the last time I saw them got all hosed up with bleach. Seconding (thirding?) that Behemoth puts on a loving great live show. loving fog machines, crazy elaborate mic stands, all the pageantry, but the best part of it is just their energy. Nergal's passion for his music is loving intense. Dude has been doing this since he was 16, and he survived cancer and just got right back out there. The Satanist was such a loving good album, I can't wait to see what's next.

You need a dispassionate, unaggressive narrator for those lyrics. Otherwise the cosmic horror doesn't work. Or do you mean you don't get how he does them, in which case the answer is "very carefully"
