It's awesome, but unheard of outside the south. I make a cocktail with coke, bourbon, and a peanut syrup I make by steeping roasted peanuts in hot simple syrup.

Peanuts go really well with sweet flavours. Sweet chilli, honey, cinnamon sugar, etc. I don't see why cola flavour would be any different.

Regular Coke always struck me as a "nutty" flavor (particularly compared to Diet Coke) anyway.

I'd try it. Seems like it would be a good thing to have while ignoring a baseball game.

Speaking of sweet and salty, my summer students were almost in tears when I brought them salty popcorn for their movie party a couple weeks ago. You see, they wanted SWEET popcorn. Not caramel. Not, like, that rainbow bullshit. Just sugar. So, I stole thirty sugar packets from the cafeteria and let them make their nightmare corn, while the two Russian kids and I huddled around our bag of unadulterated cornz and stared at them in horror. I did try it. It wasn't terrible, but I like the Jelly Bellies popcorn jellybeans, anyways.

That... basically sounds like kettle corn? Preferably you'd cook the sugar into it, but there's not a huge difference.
|
# ? Aug 2, 2018 14:00 |
Kettle corn is sweet-n-salty though, right? I'm not an expert, it's not my favorite thing. But what I'm picturing here is someone shaking a big diner-table dispenser of sugar into a movie popcorn tub

They sell sweet popcorn in the "weird poo poo only americans buy" aisle at my store. It's not really like kettle corn, it's a lot less salty (until I put some on). It's kind of gross honestly, I like the spicy jalapeno popcorn they sell better.

That's not what I was doing I just said that that's where it was in the store. That's what the aisle is. It has almost exclusively popular american products at insanely high markups (cheesewhiz, poptarts, pam cooking spray, Jiff/skippy peanutbutter, etc). If I was declaiming about americans I wouldn't admit to buying poo poo from it multiple times. e: the box even has a bunch of american flags on it, i wasn't trying to make a joke. I don't think americans eat sweet popcorn like this a lot (i've never seen it back at home), but the germans apparently think we do. yeah I eat ass has a new favorite as of 15:46 on Aug 2, 2018 |

Listen, what you need to do is buy Hot Pockets® and then wrap them in tinfoil and cook them over a campfire. Also be drunk when you do that.
