At least it wasn't a simple math problem everyone always gets wrong because they don't understand the order of operations. Please excuse my off-topic posting, and have a pic of a car covered in FOIL.

Whether that counts as a car is an interesting debate, it's pedal powered.

Shortly thereafter, a mass text went out informing us that police had authorized the "celebratory activities" but to please refrain from damaging property. That night was a loving blast. Is the plane body shortened anywhere, or is it just hacked off the back with tail relocated? The proportions are really pleasing.

If this is the same model, and I'm no expert on 172s, the cabin seems pretty much intact but the nose is shortened by quite a lot and the tail is just hacked off.

T'other day I was in the car with my mother, who grew up in the musclecar era. She saw a new Mustang, and commented that it looks retro, but they probably don't go like they did back then. Her first husband had a '67 Mustang fastback, which she trashed the transmission of at the local dragstrip. Her ex-father-in-law, upon the divorce, knowing his son was an rear end in a top hat, made up for it by giving her a blank check at a Chevy dealership. She got a Nova SS 350, where you could see the needle on the fuel gauge move. Mom had badass cars in 1970-81* I replied that tires and engines are bettter, but with no hard proof at the moment. Two weeks later I read the M5 stats-- "this thing is a giant sedan, one step away from being a limo, and does 0-60 in under three seconds, and a 10-second quarter-mile." Mom: *she sold the Nova to her cousin and got a Ford Fairmont wagon when she learned I was gestating. Cuz wrapped it around a tree two weeks after he got it. Boomers always have their tales about how much quicker cars were back then, but they just weren't. They might have felt quicker because their movements were more dramatic. Flooring it made a bunch more noise and the front end came up and it felt like you were going fast, but they weren't that impressive. the Hemi Roadrunner was one of the fastest cars of the era, and only did 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and 13.56@105.38mph. Yeah blah blah blah tires, but they didn't have those tires at the time they are recollecting. They didn't even have the option of better tires.

I think it's a combination of cars sounding better to their (and my) ears, the way the older suspension lets you feel the body shift under hard acceleration, and how for most of the time since that era, most cars had garbage performance. When we think of muscle cars, we think of things like Impalas and Chevelles. Those were the Avalons and Camrys of the era. It took a long time for those segments to get anything close to interesting again.
