Well the purists classify them as a profit band and poo poo on them regularly. I'm just a big fan, and Lars is my spirit animal

The purists can go suck an obscure Bulgarian black metal dick, then.

Lars is just such a wonderful person, he's so happy to be on stage, screaming and chugging beer like there's no tomorrow.

The last time I saw them play, some really stupidly drunk dude was making a real mess of himself in front of the stage. Cue Lars' reaction: "Oh ho ho, you're way too drunk, my friend... That's makes two of us! :v:"

I will never not love the Swedish metal Buddha. Every concert brings another cool story.

What kinda merch? Other than the usual stuff (shirts, picks, patches) I have a Carnifex weed grinder. I've seen scarves at Nightwish, Nile, and Behemoth shows.

Shirts, patches all that usual stuff but the bass player of Genocide Pact apparently runs a small distro so he brought a crate of LPs pretty fairly priced and from a wide variety of genres. Incantation ran out of longsleeves really early in the night which was a bummer, but I walked away with a Genocide Pact longsleeve, their second LP, Gatecreeper's debut LP and something else I'm forgetting. Just a huge spread of options between the 4 bands, each brought like a headliner's amount of clothing.

The band had nothing to do with the Wolverine thing, that was just the label. The band didn't want to have anything to do with it.

They made the music though right? I was interning at Earache US when that came out I heard it once and was like nah thanks guys but I dont need a free copy of that. Wasn’t the best time for earache releases, imo.

Maybe I should give it a second chance, its only been like 25 years

Ross Dolan's vocal delivery rules and the dissonance is A+ -- also they have a bald guitarist which is always funny to me unless you're a brutal tech death band, then it's kind of expected

Why is a bald guitarist funny? John Gallagher is bald and I think Devin Townsend shaves his head now too.

I don't really have super strong feelings on this—not the songs I would have picked, but a pretty solid sampling of their early material—but I'm going to point out that this is missing the entire Something Wicked trilogy

God, Immolation is so good. They released a classic album (Dawn of Possession) and then went on to develop a signature sound. They're technical, but not wanky, and continue to be consistently interesting.
