Taking Howard’s reminder into account, protesters formed a clear path through which attendants could leave. A large group of students eventually gathered outside of the building on High Street. According to Buckley fellows present during the conference, several attendees were spat on as they left. One Buckley fellow said he was spat on and called a racist. Another, who is a minority himself, said he has been labeled a “traitor” by several fellow minority students. Both asked to remain anonymous because they were afraid of attracting backlash. Or this? quote:Protesters at Dartmouth University disrupted students studying in the library, reportedly directing profanity towards white students and physically pushing others.

An advanced algorithm then matches them to the precise candidates, issues and proposals that appeals to them. No arguing, no depending on outside media for your information. Managed democracy!

Radbot posted:Which is why, when Americans have written the constitutions of other countries, they always look just like the American one, right? With a bicameral legislature and all that. A lot of(most?) of the countries that formed democracies/republics post US Revolution used the US constitution as a base, but fixed a lot of the more stupid things in it. Lets be honest though, a political party being a bunch of children isn't exactly a new thing in this country. Hell, in order to even get the constitution ratified one of the states had to send out people to find all the anti-federalists and literally drag them to the building where the vote was being held, because the anti-federalists knew that the federalists could not reach a quorum without the anti-federalists there, and so couldn't vote on the ratification.

Radbot posted:Which is why, when Americans have written the constitutions of other countries, they always look just like the American one, right? With a bicameral legislature and all that. This doesn't work against the idea that there are downsides to democracy, merely that many of our attempts to manage those downsides of democracy within our hybrid system sometimes lets things that shouldn't be based on democracy be decided by it (elected judges, gay marriage referendums) and acts in very undemocractic ways in others (electoral college, the senate, the idea of states' rights in general). It's mostly the latter, and I definitely feel that it should probably be more democratic, but there are downsides to complete and utter democracy, and hence you get liberal democracy where minority rights are protected. Now which minority rights should be protected is a question too, and we err on the side of the rich as a minority rather than say, black people as a minority.
