Da Meltz confirms that Lesnar quit New Japan, thus what happened. Tournament tonight with Tanahashi, Tenzan, Nagata, Akebono, Bernard/Albert and Tyson Tomko to determine the new champ. If Akebono wins I will laugh and laugh.

Tomko is a total job-boy, playing A-Train's lackey. It's more likely that Zombie Hashimoto will win. Just announced: Zombie Hashimoto has vacated the IWGP title and signed a 7-fight deal with UFC.

I wrote columns so regularly on wrestling, mostly WWE, back in the day: http://ditch.lcwe.com/ditch.html http://ditch.lcwe.com/ditch2.html http://ditch.lcwe.com/ditch3.html Then as I stopped watching WWE I wrote less and less, with the occasional column on PuroPower. Now, however, I find myself with plenty of material. And apparently good material :kittyjig: thanks goons

How do you get your tickets to puro shows? I'm going to Japan in a few months and I'm kind of interested in checking one out. Also, how much do you think a Dragon Gate event at Korakuen runs?

Thread tag almost exclusively for this thread :kittyjig:ChefBoyardee posted:How do you get your tickets to puro shows? Also, how much do you think a Dragon Gate event at Korakuen runs? http://eee.eplus.co.jp/sports/battle/ DG runs Korakuen on 8/11, 9/26 and 10/20. Ultimo runs a show there on 10/8. Prices are 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 or 7000 yen. $1 is over 100 yen, so it ranges from just under $30 to around $65. The cheap seats will still be good. Now, here's the thing: if you have a contact in Japan it can be easy to arrange. If you don't then you'll probably need to go to the ticket window on the day of the show. If there's someone in Japan, they can get the tickets delivered or print them at certain Lawsons convenience stores. If it's the ticket window then you can probably brute-force your way through with words and writing (ie. "Doragon Gate-o, and hand over a piece of paper with the ticket price you want). If that doesn't work then just whip it out and leave the rest to God.

Having spent a summer in Japan 10 years ago, I can safely say that no matter what bizarre (or non-bizarre) subculture you're a part of, there will ALWAYS be cute chicks who are into it too. I specifically remember going to an arcade to play Street Fighter Alpha 2 (which I was actually good at) and getting my rear end handed to me by a really pretty girl. She was there with her boyfriend though.

Johnny Stamboli did a one-night stint recently in All Japan as a MUTA rip-off. The New Japan version was also a white guy but at the time Johnny was in WWE. The New Japan guy quickly broke his leg and never returned. This forced them to dig up Great Kabuki to team up with Chyna in a tag title match against Chono/Tenzan. No I'm not kidding

I suppose here's the right place to show off. Just came back from Tokyo, had the chance to catch BJW in action (7.14) - it was so not what I was expecting from seeing various Deathmatch Wars episodes - it was waaaay better, great wrestling top to bottom (ok, maybe I'm overreacting, but hey - it was my first live event, since I get nothing in Poland), and the ultraviolent main event had some great bumps and a lot of psychology. Overall I've marked like a little bitch. No arena photos (it was in Koruaken Hall, btw) 'cause I've got a piece of poo poo camera, but at least the wrestler photos look good enough to share. Abdullah Kobayashi: MEN'S Teioh & Shinobu: Ryuji Ito: Jaki Numazawa: Takashi Sasaki: Guest starring is a Signed By Ito, Bloodied By Numazawa (Or Sasaki) BJW Towel. :krad2: I deeply appologize for the cliched nWo t-shirt, but since it was the only wrestling gear I had at the moment... I just had to wear something wrestling related. Edit: Deathmatch Wars #84 / #85 were taped at that event.

Really it's been a notch better since last fall. Abby Jr vs Sekimoto, Ito and Sasaki all ruled, some of the tag DMs ruled, some of the straight matches ruled, Kasai has to be a masochist because DEAR LORD HE'S CA-RAZY, there's a general joviality to it all... I luv BJPW.

Ditch posted:How'd you get all those pics with the wrestlers? Abby was just chilling after his match, watching the show, and the rest of the pics were done in the lobby, after the show has ended - most of the guys were pushing merchandise, doing pics and signing autographs... And poor Kasai probably needed a blood transfusion, so he was nowhere to be found.

I recently saw a Dragon Gate show, and coupled with what I've seen of them in ROH I think I'd really dig that promotion. I normally just get into NOAH, but used to be into AJPW and NJPW quite a bit. Anyone know of a good place to get some Dragon Gate DVDs or something online?
