a sharp thing posted:This is the first song from Koenjihyakkei's "Viva Koenjihyyaeki!" album. You would know the drummer as the absolute genius behind Ruins, Tatsuya Yoshida. It's basically a fusion of Yoshida's speed/prog/punk style and Magma's Zeuhl approach. It's all Japanese and rocks my poo poo off. Thanks for this, I've been looking for other Zeuhl acts other than Magma and Ruins to enjoy.

Red posted:This is really, really awesome stuff. Thanks a lot for the link. Thanks, yo. Posting the most recent one because my thread died. Your Sonic Residence is something of a huge meandering mish-mash of different styles I've been digging lately (prog rock, minimalism, shoegaze, brian eno, trip-hop, lowercase, etc.) I also threw in a bunch of household percussion to keep it interesting. Guitar and Sax parts by Travis Woodson and Cory Taylor respectively. http://jaytholen.net/jaytholen-yoursonicresidence.zip (35MB) 1. After Rain [4:53] 2. Framework [2:54] 3. The Dividing Sky [3:17] 4. Timeless [1:59] 5. We Oracles [2:11] 6. Interval [9:59]

NMD thread died again. Here ya'll go. pretentious overlong description Transistor is a sample drenched, krautrock inspired romp through the more arcane aspects of recent human history. It's blissful 20 minute duration is drenched in the archaic sounds of rickety thrift shop organs, analog synthesizers, and tape trickery. Some tracks veer into full on art-rock, while others side with a more accessible indie sound. Listen if you enjoy artists like Neu!, Sparklehorse, or Brian Eno. There's also a cover of Cash's Ring of Fire I decided to throw in for kicks. track list 1 Magyar Hymn 2 End of the World 3 The Whistleblower 4 A Minute Away 5 Subterranean Nosedive 6 Ring of Fire 7 Our Lord download links Zip file: http://jaytholen.net/jaytholen-transistor.zip Separate MP3s: http://jaytholen.net/transistor

Just a warning, this one is a very outwardly Christian project. It wasn't really made for the internet crowd to begin with. That said, this is definitely my strongest release if you can stomach the lyrics. The style kind of Prog/Art Rock/Noise Pop with a lil Shoegaze. http://jaytholen.net/jaytholen-hisshadowislight.zip (1) Still Faithful (2) David's Incredibly Large Sleepy Orchestra (3) A Lesson In Trust (4) Doomsday Was Last Week (5) When You Feel Alone Total: (22:16) Jay Tholen - Vocals, Samples, Fake Mellotron, Percussion, Harmonica, Stylophone, Organ, Found Sounds Cory Taylor - Sax on 3 and 4 Christine Tholen - Background Vocals Chris Elkjar (Gentleman's Gun Club) - Guitar on 3 PS - I know I've been neglecting Dropsy. He'll be back soon, I promise. There has been progress "behind the scenes" on the next thread. Gaspy Conana fucked around with this message at 06:31 on Feb 20, 2009 |

As always, when the thread dies I post it here: John Crayon provided the gilmour-y solo on the final track. (01) { 3:08 } Pig Stole Our Golden Ring (02) { 7:13 } Covering Our Ears and Eyes, We Laugh (03) { 2:48 } Big Gulf's Out Yonder (04) { 3:06 } Preachers Preaching, Pebbles Dreaming, Teachers Teaching (05) { 4:02 } Peace (XX) {20:16 } Yo guys, I know I've been slacking on Dropsy. He'll come back soon enough. In the meantime I just finished another little EP. As always there are elements of my faith in these songs. It's something that's important to me, so I write about it. My last release I felt was probably too blunt for you guys (HERE), which is why there wasn't a thread on it. (Hehe, I made a promise about Dropsy there too.) If you haven't heard anything of mine before, it's best described as Avant-Pop with strands if prog rock woven in. I've been listening to a lot of Gong , Danielson , Brian Eno , Faust , Can , 16 Horsepower/Wovenhand and old Genesis lately. I'm sure some of it rubbed off somewhere. A lot of people seem to think it sounds like The Unicorns. I've never heard them, but if you like em' you'll probably dig it. A TINY adventure using themes from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in weird, layered, quirky songs about Jesus. Yeah, I don't know. It kind of features Robert Fripp and clocks in at 11:40 total. http://jaytholen.net/jaytholen-thegreathylianrevival.zip 192 KBPS MP3

Here's an incredible compilation (that I happen to be part of): http://ubiktune.com/releases/ubi057-various-artists-preschtale-variations It's pay what you want on bandcamp. Listen if you dig prog rock, neo psych, or chip music.

Here's my new album. It's a genre hopper, but doesn't stray far from my usual Neo-Psych and Prog-Pop formula. I've been playing a lot of Earthbound and have been listening to a lot of Eno's first 4. Everyone seems to like the last track the best. It's pay what you want on Bandcamp. Orrr you can purchase a cassette version for 5bux.
