A risk that the majority vote of the crew had agreed to take on in exchange for a fairly generous payment, at this point, right?

It's a cool system but I feel like a teleport activated by a password at least 16 letters long with capitals, lowercase, and special symbols would have been a lot easier to set up. As long as Serini didn't write it down.

Hell, leave the rest of the dungeon complex intact as a red herring.

So she hasn't actually been inside since it was set up?

The traps all definitely got popped decades ago by a bugbear that accidentally got in.

If they hadn't stopped them from doing porn the tech would already have been perfected. Don't they know that's what drives internet innovation.

It's almost an axiom that if you try to use evolutionary algorithms to create a game-playing AI where the goal is to survive as long as you can, the algorithms will then go on to develop new and innovative ways to crash the game so it never reaches the lose state.

(And then when you make the crash state a loss, it usually figures out fun new ways to lock things up without setting off your crash detector)

Once you do manage to force them to play they usually then just figure out every bug in the engine they can to cheat and exploit.

The actual actual K6BD RPG is called Broken Worlds and it's a Powered by the Apocalypse game. You get it by subbing to the K6BD patreon for a month at any level.

Never played it but as a fan of the comic it was worth a read just for the lore back when I checked a look.

Isn't the basic premise and setup of Lancer that you wouldn't see mechs in the Union? That's not GMs telling you to avoid the lore, that's literally how the book tells you to play. Union is the origin of your characters and the reason many of them do what they do, not the setting of the fighting.

So it seems like Serini's old personality from the diary was accurate. Modern Serini's reaction seems to imply the cheery happy hopeful stuff wasn't a put-on.

I don't think that attitude reflects anything but the most pragmatic outlook, even among the dipshit pantheons in this comic. Otherwise they would not hesitate to jam the reset button every time the Snarl started getting loose. The gods care a lot about the material plane and what people do with their time there.

They do, but also they've established that biding their time between worlds isn't great for them, and in cases like Hel it might even kill her.

Moving the gates and the rift didn't become an option until this world invented the concept of gates a few decades ago, and it's been shown it's really hard for the gods to co-ordinate on this stuff.

If they were able to co-ordinate and come to an agreement to intervene to keep the gates from being misused it'd probably be easier to just set up divine levels of defense around them instead. Or just personally zap anyone who came near.

Elder Scrolls has similar: there's a Dark Moon that's only revealed when both the grey moon Secunda and the red moon Masser eclipse the sun at the same time.

Dunno if you could track it by occlusion, reality and physics can be a bit subjective in TES so it might be that the moon only exists as a perceivable object during that time.

(Oh and there's also a moon called the Necromancer's Moon that's the divine body of the King of Worms, which popped into existence at the end of Daggerfall when he became the God of Worms, but that's tiny and out there and you can only tell it's there because occasionally it occludes one of the other planets, Arkay. Arkay is the god of death so that gives you a time where you can bend the laws of death a bit)
