Edit: Oh, and here's what it actually looks like. I really like the look of the steelies.

I have a set of steelies at my house which I'm going to paint lime green for my winter/early-spring set of wheels. My car's going to be a green abortion. (I decided to go against Toolshack's suggestion to go red for a Christmas time Miata)

Thanks for the constructive NB vs NC comments. How would you compare the handling in the two cars and how do they compare in daily driving, cabin room, etc?

NC's are cool. They look like poo poo, but they're cool. I had some guy who was like 6'6 and 250lbs squeeze into my car with a helmet on when I had my hardtop. I took a ride with him in his NC and there's a lot more grunt and a lot more refined and purdy. It reminded me more of the MR-S' interior. I got a 74:xx run when he was in my car, when I rode with him he spun out and still managed a 65:xx. I was holding onto the "oh poo poo" bar like my life depended on it.

edit:

I'm running under the radar with my 90-93 wheels on my 96

I traded in my 01 Malibu that had a failing anti-theft system that would not let me start my own car and would cost $1000 to fix for a '99 Miata this weekend.

Got it for $6900 with 69k miles. It's my first stick shift, so I had the joy of learning that over the weekend. It rained last night and I got to find out real fast how sensitive a RWD is in rain.

Get some sticky tires and alloys. I went from the steel wheels (18lbs) to the 90-93 alloys (12lb), so not only did i drop 24lbs, I now cruise in style.

89A is seriously the best day-trip in this goddamn state if you want to actually drive. I've heard 191 is even better but it would make for one LONG day and that wouldn't even have you stopping anywhere other than gas and food.

Of course, in discussing this with my wife (it is her car after all)...she said "I want the sticky tires!" "How sticky?" "Like chewing gum..."

One set of Falken 615's, coming right up  Looks like 195/60-14 is the smallest size they come in, I'm guessing that fits in the Miata just fine. Probably going to order them from Vulcan unless someone else has them signficantly cheaper.

Vulcan is good, even though I had to get them shipped from Utah (as opposed to PA).

Careful there, tiger. You may shatter his world view.

Is it worth it to just goto a Miata specialist to get the oil changed rather than trying to do it in the parking lot? I think the cost is like 25 vs 20, but I'm guessing it could be a learning experience.

ninja edit- the miata garage is right around the corner for me, so it's not like I have to go out of my way

I don't have ramps, yet. When I get some more money, I'll invest in some, but thanks for the run-down. I'll do it next oil change if I have the ramps then.

It doesn't matter if they look new. Miatas are notorious for deteriorating plug wires, and you can't tell by looking at them. If I were you I'd order a set of NGK blues, it's only 35 bucks. It more than likely will solve the problem. If not, at least you have eliminated a possibility and you'll know how old the wires are.

I honestly want to say that the wires were done at 60k because my wires are blue. :iiam:

That LINE on the headunit shouldn't be there.

I have the Bose-esque radio which doesn't have the circle DIN on the back, so I had to patch into the tape connector. In the cubby, there's a switch, and when it's on, the radio immediately goes to LINE and receives input from the 1/8" inch miniplug and the blue LED shines.

I was getting off of work one night, and there was a white NA with an olive green hardtop. An old Mazda badge, maybe some Eunos stuff, a euro-style rear fascia. Guy comes out, and I chat with him for a while and he handed me a Club Roadster business card. I got it on November 10th, I think.
