I have yet to listen to the new EITS, I might eventually. I have been revisiting some Mogwai though, as I do.

Dry Fantasy remains an ear worm of sorts for me. It may be because it's the biggest single from their latest studio release, but it still lasts for me.

This old AMV makes me think of ways to adapt the new Mogwai to the new Star Wars. As controversial as each can be in their respective modern iterations, I feel that they still fit.

Oh yeah, baby. Frame your suffering as a masterpiece. Only one problem - no one's watching. It's boring, buddy, boring as death.
Long time no posts, coming back in to say I've been really enjoying Purple Haus by Beat the Mammoth recently.

Pretty clean, not overlong buildups, some nice payoffs. Cool album.

Mogwai have just announced an NZ/AU tour. I can't wait, I've been dying to see them for years*

(*I briefly saw them when I was 12 but can't remember / didn't care at the time)

The only thing white people deserve is a bullet to their empty skull
Well worth it to experience Mogwai live, especially if the venue lets them play as loud as they want to play (bring earplugs).

lol my parents took me to a huge charity fundraising gig, it was Franz Ferdinand and Travis I was most looking forward to.

I've worn earplugs ever since I saw A Place To Bury Strangers in a pub years back, that was intensely loud

One of the greatest treats of hearing Mogwai live is the chance to hear Stuart sing with a much more matured singing voice than when any of those old lyrical songs were originally recorded.

Just scored tickets to see Jakob next month, they're apparently going to be playing new material. Hope that means a new album isn't far off!

It didn't get posted ITT yet but Caspian's On Circles: The Complete Sessions, which I believe was previously a vinyl-only release, is now on streaming services as of a few days ago. It features new album art and a reordered tracklist with 3 new tracks, Nagoya, Barfly and Vortices.

I like these new tracks but don't love them. Vortices is definitely my favorite of the bunch. I think the original tracklist is more to my liking and that the album starts off on a much stronger note when it opens with Wildblood. Still, it's neat to be able to listen to this since I don't currently have a way to play vinyl.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Deathcab lately and it just dawned on me that their song Foxglove Through the Clearcut is very well suited for this thread.

Absolutely. Have you heard the version from the acoustic album they put out this year? Death Cab + strings works really well.

I have! Though I think I prefer the regular version of that album. I only just listened to the acoustic this afternoon and it was while I was focused on work. I should give it a second chance.

Yeah, I prefer the regular version as well, but it's still cool to hear those songs translated to a different environment like that. That album is my favorite thing Death Cab have put out in 15 years easily.

I think Asphalt Meadows is my favorite Deathcab album.

I’ve been wallowing around in a music rut for a few weeks and then I remembered I liked Asphalt Meadows when it was new so I turned it on and it turns out the entire album is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

I relate right now to a lot of the feelings that album makes me feel. I also really enjoy the lyrics! There’s some real good stuff in there, Rand McNally comes to mind.

It opens with:
A Rand McNally atlas, cheap coffee stained
Now, I wouldn't know how to use one with my life at stake

Later in the song:
With this Rand McNally atlas dog-eared and frayed
Like Old Testament verses that don't make sense in this decade

I’m a cartographer and just love all this imagery with a map atlas. I can see that atlas. There’s been one like it in every one of my work trucks. And then the jab at printed maps and the Bible. It’s too good! I love it.

I am very curious about this little crescendo
I've never been able to go to ATG because it's right during the Edinburgh Fringe. I don't do 23 shows in a row now but I do other things to help organise bits of it and I need to be around.

I will just quit one year and go.

I don't believe either band has a bad album, so you can really pick any of their albums and be good to go. Looking at Caspian's recent setlists, they've been playing stuff from most of their discography. Same goes for ASIWYFA.

My favorite Caspian album is probably still Tertia, which has Sycamore, the song they close most of their sets with and one of the sickest closers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live. And as for ASIWYFA, my favorite of theirs is probably Heirs, but like I said, you can't really go wrong with any of them.
