finally got around to spinning some stuff off the Ágætis Byrjun deluxe edition and holy god drat is the original speed version of Staralfúr good. it's a lot dryer mix and it's missing some of my favorite bits of that song but it's unbelievably beautiful regardless. the demos are crazy too, it's so weird hearing these songs so stripped back when i'm used to the mind-melting atmosphere of the album versions.

post-rock is primarily about using rock instruments for textural or otherwise not-traditionally-rock purposes, math rock is typically focused on angular gnarly technical riffs and rhythmic complexity but is still pretty firmly grounded in rock music
