Is that automatic? I thought all the 850R's were manual?

As far as I know, most (if not all) 850R's were automatic.

In about a year of watching Ebay, I've never seen a manual for sale.

That ad is hilarious.

I think the picture's just flipped. Even if they did make an RHD model, they wouldn't have the speedometer read from right to left, much less position the accelerator under the driver's left foot.

Trouser Chili, that Mercedes is amazing.

Also at 33 mpg that thing is running REALLY lean.

Or the seller is inflating the mileage that it actually gets by a third...

I really like it but it seems a bit overpriced.

Possible gold-it's a 1980 320i in the Midwest with what looks to be a straight body for $1500. "Needs fuel pump." I'd check it out if I wasn't tapped out from my latest Volvo purchase.

All the Comanche love in AI of late inspired me to search for one on the local CL, and I found this:

This has to be one of the cleanest I've ever seen in the Midwest. :stare:

"very original"

(missing almost all of the pieces that made it special in the first place, like the wheels and GT interior)

Found this relatively clean-looking 924, although the mention of rust and soft brakes (plus the fact that it's a European car from the 70s) has me worried that it's rotting out underneath. The interior is amazing though.

Make sure to jack it up yourself so that he doesn't damage something and then try to bargain you down because of the flaw. Because he sounds like the kind of guy that would do that.

Can't snag pics since I'm on my phone, but I didn't think the US ever got a diesel E39. Canadian import maybe?

Not gold, more of a WTF. Nothing reflects better on you as a seller than using pics with the accident victim (and their bike) in the background.

Real gold? I've always wanted one of these but I'm pretty sure my neighbors would show up at my doorstep holding torches and pitchforks if I bought another car.

It would definitely be smarter to rent cars with that money. You won't make any money by junking it because scrap prices are in the toilet right now, and it doesn't sound like there are very many parts on it worth reselling. Plus, if it's that far overdue for a timing belt you're playing Russian roulette with the engine every time you turn the key.

If you get it for next to nothing, have the timing belt done, and ignore the clutch you might be able to sell it and break even/take a small loss once you're done with it, but that's the best case scenario.

The RWD Volvos occasionally have fatal transmission problems (because they're all old and neglected) but they've got nothing on some of the cars they made from 1999 on. The T6 models with GM transmissions were basically guaranteed to fail and the 5-speed auto they used behind their 5-cylinder motors from 2001 forward had some serious teething troubles. Those two are almost certainly what Fo3 heard/read about but somehow they got mixed up on the timeframe.

I'm in love with that Benz wagon. :swoon:
