Is a glider some sort of rocking bench? It looks really solid and well put together.

Its a glider, the entire top swings freely from the bottom. I got the plans out of the last issue of WOOD Magazine. It is made from cedar.

I am not very happy with the stain, it is kind of blotchy in places. I think it was due to it being entirely too hot, between 95 and 100 degrees, when I stained it. But overall I am happy with the way it turned out.

Here is my current project, a hand plane. Pretty rough right now. I need to do quite a bit of shaping and then finish it, but it is coming along pretty well.

Has your plane got a metal bottom? If it's all wood, will it not get worn/damaged with use and not have a flat surface any more?

Here are some pictures of the bottom. The wood that I used is incredibly hard and there is virtually no risk of wearing it out. these pictures show the color of the wood better.

I was looking at this, and it appears to be an ordinary bench mounted on a smaller box with swingy bits. Could any sturdy chairlike vehicle be made to glide in this fashion?

Wire wheel on a bench grinder is good for cleaning all the parts except the sole of the plane. You can also just use sandpaper by hand but it's more work. For the sole you want sandpaper on a flat surface. I use the stuff that comes in rolls with adhesive backing from amazon and stick it to a piece of glass or a mirror. 250 grit is fine. I like a little water or windex to float the crud off and keep the sandpaper from clogging up too much.

Seconding the wire wheel. That is how I clean up planes and it doesnt take much time at all. That plane is in pretty darn good shape.

I made a table. This is something that I have wanted to try for a couple years. When I was digging through my stack of walnut I came across two pieces of a branch that were book matched. Perfect. I built this table by ripping off one of the live edges of each walnut piece. I then made templates out of plywood. I used those templates to match everything up. I am very happy with how it turned out, though the table is a little small. 30"x17"x16".

Took a couple of months, but finally got our patio in place. Probably the biggest project I attempted to DIY

Removed the old poo poo pavers, begin digging everything out by hand

All done and squared out. Ignore the poor dead potted plant. It never survived

First round of compacting dirt with some 610 limestone. Not quite obvious but due to setting a ridiculous completion goal and weather, this was particularly muddy.

Pavers delivered, driver dropped the entire middle pallet when attempting to get it off the truck with the lift. This ended up badly damaging about 1/3rd of that particular size which really hosed me and caused a pretty sour relationship with me and the salesperson

It was around this point I realized I was not going to finish in time for my deadline

That tiny little 1" grey triangle that is just barely visible at the turn was the last piece to lock in place. I was fairly certain a secret hatch somewhere was going to pop open somewhere with a celebratory tune.

Few rounds of compaction and poly sand distribution

All done, way past schedule but felt good nonetheless.

Very nice!

My toddler nephew has something like this that is grandpa made him. It's literally just a bunch of stuff from the hardware store screwed to a piece of plywood. Hours of entertainment.

Re: In-home urinal.

When I was in middle school one of the "electives" (we were forced to take all of them but they rotated each 6 weeks unlike normal courses) required us to lay out a house for some reason.
Cue me, who actually cooked family meals regularly at that age, designing a house with a urinal in the kitchen as a time-saving measure, and putting it next to the stove so I could keep an eye on anything that was on an active burner. :gonk:

Also, I love the idea of one of your cats creepin' on the other cat's duce Spiderman kiss style.

My cousin installed one in his garage about a year ago. Right next to the fridge. No lie, its made out of any old beer keg.
