SassySally posted:I finally decided to start an Etsy shop. Mine is at http://www.etsy.com/shop/nmfolkman. It's crochet items including Kindle/ E-reader covers, stuffed animals, and will soon have bibs and booties. The Kindle cover is cute but I have some feedback. You may want to explain / better photograph what you mean by cover. For instance I looked at it but I'm a little confused about what kind of cover it is. Is it a pouch with a side opening or a top? or is it something that goes over the kindle, but with a window so you can read with it on? You also might want to specify that it's sized for a Kindle 3. Cuniculous I found this site http://www.myphotostitch.com/ I haven't been able to try it out yet. I cant make it look decent yet. The "edgier" cross stitch patterns seem to be getting popular.

Wandering Knitter posted:Wow. It's that easy, huh? Nope it's really easy. That option isn't just in Open Office it's available in a lot of programs. You should try it in whatever software you have already. I think you can also get some software that kind of installs like a printer, so applications that don't have a save as PDF option you can "print" to that printer and it will create a PDF. Also handy for online transactions that say you should print a copy for your records, you can just save a copy as a PDF and continue your paper-free life.

zoecore posted:You've summed up my thoughts about this very well. If I'm understanding the change correctly, it just seems redundant to use a keyword descriptive title when those very same keywords should be in the tags anyway. Have you thought about doing a listing in each style? You'd could watch your analytics / stats to see what gets more views or sales, and have your bases covered? That would probably work better for you vs. some of us with more one of a kind things.

Kruxy posted:It wasn't a banner ad here. It was the new Search Ads Option at Etsy. I didn't save the link but somewhere on the Etsy forums there was a link or a discussion about why the Search Ads were flawed, and probably not worth your time. It basically had to do with how Etsy sells per impression where as all of the other successful ad sites do either Cost per Click, or something else that might have been based on actual sales rather than clicks or the number of times the ad displays. I imagine the Etsy forum thread has been closed and or archived or deleted. It seems like the kind of dissent and negative opinions that don't sit well over there.

Lealoo posted:Roughly how much are we talking for the banner ad? It will depend on the number of people interested and the number of times it gets inserted into the ad rotation. It might help if people can give a rough idea on how much they'd like to spend. I don't know how much of my poo poo I'll get together so I don't know if I'll have enough product to make it worth it.

Mizufusion posted:I've also had 130+ hits for the tag CF4L this week, since I tagged one of my Regretsy-inspired items with it. Kinda cool since I got three times as many views as usual one day, but still no sales. I guess I'm confused as to the "proper" usage of the CF4L tag. I was under the impression that "CF4L" was for the type of Useless poo poo that finds its way to the front page because the photograph of it looks pretty. (And perhaps listed just for that reason) I think the CF4L tag might be a little more popular than normal right now just in terms of treasury bait. I've been using "Regretsy" for items that are regretsy inspired, like the Goatse katamari. I've been using "teamapril" for general stuff that you wouldn't have to be a Regretsy fan to appreciate, but you want Regretsy fans that support other fans to find. The goatse katamari is tagged with both regretsy and teamapril and it is consistently my most viewed item over a long term. Comrade Quack fucked around with this message at 22:02 on Oct 20, 2011 |

Bewildrbeast posted:What's a reseller? Someone who copies other's work, or...? Somebody that sells (typically ) Chinese made goods and passes them off as handmade. They usually take the same stock photos from wherever they bought it from and sometimes do very little to even make it sound handmade. They're often easy to spot. Because they have a large number of sales of an item that shouldn't be that easy to reproduce.

Aside from my first thought is that you might want to go into a bit more detail about the chainsaw frame in regards to the sharpness of the edges. Will you need to wear heavy gloves to put it up and take it down? Should you worry about cutting yourself if you touch it? It might also be good to give a weight estimate to help people get an idea about what they might need to do to actually hang it.

Basically, I remove the leaves from the volume and run them through a rudimentary conservation process. The purpose of the process is to remove/lessen surface damage, and slow down the natural degradation of paper. I've done some sales of the leaves to friends; they frame up very nicely and are a neat little piece of artwork and history to have. I'm pretty sure you can sell it as both. I do vintage first then supplies.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep those items together in the display area? It's not a booth show; every entrant's items are tabled by category and the entrants only work shifts for part of the shows so I won't have direct control after I bring the items.
