Obama Yo Mama posted:This is amazing, I want more. If you're looking for the 2- or 3-artist mixes, the "Best of Bootie" collections cover a lot of ground in the bastard pop field. They're a little uneven, but you are likely to find other DJ's worth your Googling time. They come from a bunch of worldwide mashup parties/club scenes and tend towards danceable pop and hip-hop. The most recent one is 2008's CD, but they go back to 2005 (other links at the bottom of that page) and you can either grab whole albums worth or just interesting single tracks. http://www.bootieusa.com/blog/ for the newest stuff from 2009's parties.

halcyon and on posted:This thread is really long so the gently caress if I'm reading through 17 pages to see, but I hope someone has already mentioned Super Mash Bros.? Definitely on par with Girl Talk, I discovered both of them around the same. Since you asked, they came in on page 2 and have been discussed several times since. You really should go through the thread, there's a lot of great material there that's worth your time. I mean I know some of these mashup artists seem to demand short attention spans, but 17 pages isn't that big a deal.

tagelthebagel posted:Raised as in this is too drat mashed up? Or that this poo poo is any good? Because I can't hardly listen to ANY track of this stuff. Thats what you were getting at right? One of the things the wikipedia article discusses about that is that it helped inspire Osymyso's notable "Intro-Inspection", which may be a more accessible track in a similar style. Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7qEfZu5l2U Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpaMcWbug-8 The whole thing is 12 minutes or so and mashes up the intros to about a hundred pop songs and ends up sounding like a fast-forwarded party set by a very confused but skilled DJ. It's worth a listen.

Do it, people. I'm a huge fan of DJ Z-Trip. He did the soundtrack for the game Skate and was one of the featured artists on DJ Hero, for what that's worth. He has a whole lot of material out there for perusal in addition to some actual releases. Here are a couple of D/L sites for his DJ sets and mixes: http://www.djztrip.com/downloads.html http://vladtepes.us/ I am particularly fond of "DJ Z-Trip - Baltic room set (bombshelter DJ's)" that he did with Emile. It's like two and a half hours of pop, rock and hiphop mixed a song or two at a time and it is glorious. You can find it buried in the second link. Not nearly as funkily ADD as Girltalk, but he's a drat good DJ.

The first two albums are still on their site, so I imagine they'll put this one there when they're done collecting Likes or whatever. Anyway, there are some very brave/clever choices on this so far. Worth a listen.

Lakitu7 posted:Does anybody else do that "mixed lyrics make sense" thing and I just haven't noticed? I'm reminded of this completely nuts thing that just stitches songs onto each other by a single shared word done by a couple of DJs (Pimp Daddy Supreme and Your Girlfriend): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aszEf_-bDsk Pop-Chop - "Comp Elation" And Pimp Daddy Supreme also did a track for an Eminem's "Without Me" remix contest that I adore where it and "I Will Survive" have a sort of back-and-forth dialogue a couple of times. Unfortunately I can't find it hosted online to link to it, but it's floating around in some torrents somewhere. It's usually titled something like "Eminem vs. Irene Cara - I Will Survive Without Eminem (Pimp Daddy Supreme)".

The animated mashed up album covers is quite well-done and the song selection is nice. warning though, for talking butt and similar visions.
