hammeredspace posted:What strikes me is that, in the vast majority, these are all songs I wouldn't listen to individually. Like, I really don't care for rap, but the things some of these guys do with it makes it sound great to me. I feel like I'm being intolerant of a genre until they pour a pound of sugar on it, like medicine. Don't worry, you're not alone. I go ape poo poo for stuff like top 40 hits if they're mixed with other stuff but I wouldn't be caught dead listening to the original songs.

This guy is awesome, I'm finding a new mash up artist almost every 2 weeks from this thread. I'm working on a mash up album with a similar style, it's only half done (25 minutes out of the 45 minutes I want to shoot for) but should I put it up in this thread here before I even consider posting it in GBS when it's done?

Lakitu7 posted:You've got a lot of the songs that I've heard in a lot of albums in this thread, but on the converse, you've got several songs that make me wonder how the hell it took so long before someone sampled them. Granted, someone probably heard ANY song sampled somewhere, but the relatively unique ones are the best to me: To be honest I don't listen to many chart topping songs that were made in the past 2-3 years, so I'm a bit blank when it comes to finding rap acapellas to use with anything because I never listen to the original songs. If I do hear a acapella used in a DJ mix or something I'll go and find it and try and use it with another song and cut it up. One of the aspects that makes mash ups fun to listen to is trying to find out what samples were used in the song and knowing where you heard that song before. But if I made this entire album out of local hipster indie songs and drum and bass people might say I stole all of those songs and gave myself credit for making all of them. Or something like that Lakitu7 posted:Parts I really like: (and if you could fill in some of the something's that'd be cool too) 8:06 is Toto - Africa with Three 6 Mafia - Stay High (Fly because I could only find the censored acapella gently caress censored acapellas) and I cut up the drums from Daft Punk - Da Funk 8:20 is still Stay Fly with 50 Cent - Ayo Technology and at 8:33 I cut up the chorus of Ayo 20:22 is Journey - Don't Stop Believing? (Some crappy user made video I think) The song you're talking about at 23:40 is Deadmau5 - Ghosts n Stuff and the two songs before it are LCD Soundsystem - On Repeat and A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It? which samples Lou Reed - Walk on the Wild Side I like the last 5 minutes but don't like them at the same time Bonus song I made yesterday for anyone that wants to listen to it.

flatluigi posted:Just a minor note for inspiration: You might want to transition into "Groove is in the Heart" at the very end, I think it'd fit well. Here's the last 10 minutes again with some changes and additions, also groove is in the heart. Changed some stuff mid way through too (Africa > Ayo part) It's starting to sound like a DJ set, is that bad? Also would anyone know how I can go about "mastering" this? I'm not even sure to start with something made out of nothing but samples from other songs.

Downloading that e603 album right now and getting hyped up over the new smash bros one coming out soon. Tanner4105 put out a new one that I have right now, but I don't know if he wants it hosted since he didn't include the album art in the zip. I started on a megaman 9 mash up album about a month ago and I'm 1/4 through, same style that TKRMX does, here is a sample track.

I'm enjoying all the new mash up releases lately. Debit - Every Day I'm Hustlin' Heres a 20 minute EP I made, it has 4 tracks of hustlin' mash ups. Torpeedoh - Party People A fun girl talk/e603 styled mash up album, personally I think some parts are looped a bit too long but it's still a great album. TKRMX - TV 12 mash ups of TV themes mixed with hip-hop. TKRMX is a great guy, check out his other stuff. His megaman and arcade mixtape is rad. Bearbot - The Life Cycle of a Star Bearbots new album, not sure what to say since I haven't really listened to it yet. Tokit fucked around with this message at 10:17 on Jan 3, 2010 |

I'm working on a new mashup album, I know there is a bunch of overused songs that every other mashup artist has used and even I'm gulity of using some of them. What are some songs you're sick and tired of hearing in mashups? I'm going to make one track that uses nothing but those tracks, a mega cliched track if you will, just to get it done and over with. Off the top of my head Jackson 5 - ABC Soulja Boy - Crank Dat Rick Ross - Hustling Guns n Roses - Sweet Child O’ Mine Kids - MGMT Tag Team - Whoomp There It Is most biggie acapellas Smells Like Teen Spirit Also what are some (non overused) songs you would like to hear mashed up?

I really hate Sleigh Bells, but I've heard them used in a bunch of different mashups recently. Harminoff posted:Put some Death Grips in it. They offer the stems for all their songs, so it will be easy to use. Actually mashing it though would be another story. Any band/artist that puts out stems of their work is awesome, I might try my hand at remixing some of this stuff later since I also produce hip-hop beats every once in awhile. I Am Hydrogen posted:It works and I like it, but a part of me just can't get into it because it takes away from what Biggie is saying with the Ghostbusters theme behind it. I definitely liked the track you posted earlier though. Maybe I'm analyzing mashups too seriously. I don't take mashups seriously at all, the fun part is mashing up songs and making them sound silly. Case in point, serious biggie songs go great with just about anything http://soundcloud.com/debitmusic/debit-imagine-party-bullshit BlueBayou posted:And after hearing this tonight, DJ Schmolli This is great, listened to it twice already. I didn't know an acapella of those 2 songs exsisted, gonna go find them.

I can't even download it and I'm not making a account just to grab it. Also gently caress you for making a person "like" it to download it. Here is another mashup I made, I can't find the vocals for niggas in paris anywhere so I tried my best to EQ them but it still sounds kinda bad. I'm likely just gonna scrap it.
