I'm moving in to a rental next week, it has newer carpet and I want to try and protect it as much as I can over the next year.

I'm looking at joining the Standing Desk crew. I was eyeing the Husky desks but I am 6'5" and think I'm a touch outside of it's max height.

The WireCutter recommends the UpLift Standing Desk. Anyone here currently using one?

With these heavy rear end stand-up desks, how are they arriving via shipping? Are the packages light enough for one person to man-handle and assemble? Living that bachelor life. :smith:

Finally joined the Standing Desk Crew. Splurged on a desk from Uplift, just received everything today (ordered it 7 days ago) and assembled it. A bit of a heavy bitch for one person to swing around but got it done. My cable management looks even worse than before but I just wanted to get it done towards the end.

Picking up a standing mat from Amazon, will see how that goes.

Been working from home for the past year, definitely excited to start standing more during the day.

Now I'm intrigued on what a 38" monitor would be like to use on a standard computer desk.

Any recommendations for budget standing-desks? I'm talking about $175-$275 price range. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, just something that can go up and down at the press of a button and not collapse on itself.

I've always been a "one big monitor" kind of guy but I pulled my old 29" Ultra Wide monitor out of storage today. I now have it in portrait mode next to my 27" 1440p Acer, and it looks obscene.

I do like the idea of having documentation and poo poo on there while I poorly code on my main screen.

Left to right:

Lenovo Mini PC running Dakboard, morning traffic schedule, weather, etc, also has a Chromecast with Google TV for Hulu Live TV, YouTube, whatever. Lenovo 10" Google Display, music, photos, etc. Finally Panasonic ToughPad that lives in a dock, Full Windows 10, IP65 rating, never done it but you could technically, rinse it off in the sink from kitchen messes. Also super bright to bring out to the backyard.

Looks good! I see an empty spot on that side wall that could hold a TV.

Family left an older 55" TV at my place which is just collecting dust. Thinking about buying a remote and some feet for it, then using it as a miscellaneous device in the office. Watch youtube piano tutorials, sports streams etc...

This is the setup I'm trying out first, my work laptop on the right with a monitor they gave me. I didn't really want to use the work laptop on the same monitors as the desktop. I might switch the vertical ASUS to the right side of the main monitor as well.

I don't use that one, I use this one, but trackballs are great for laptops, IMO. Touchpads loving suck, and if you're using the laptop on a surface that's tight for space (or, say, on your lap), a traditional mouse also sucks. It takes way less getting used to than you would think (I used trackballs exclusively for about three years in middle school, though).

I've used a lot of random gadgets but a trackball hasn't been one of them. Might have to order one and try it out of *sheer curiosity.
