Aside from the coating which may annoy people, the main issue with the Dell IPS panels (at least the ones above 24") is the response time/input lag which is uncomfortably high for gaming. I recommend people who want a 2560x1440 screen with really good colour accuracy get a Samsung PLS screen - they are cheaper than the Dell screens, look amazing, and are good for gaming. The only fault you could possibly level at them is that the DVI cable they come with is comically short and you will more than likely need to buy a longer one if you keep your PC on the floor.

I'm pretty much relegated to Office Depot/Max and leftover office liquidator stores. I've never used one, and maybe it's no longer an issue with current models but a year ago when I was researching Monitors there were a large number of reports of ghosting, or lag or some such thing that led to me deciding not to buy a Dell IPS. I bought a Samsung PLS and I couldn't have been happier. The first time I switched it on I was like "Holy gently caress is that what my desktop wallpaper was supposed to look like all these years?".

Eye level with top bezel is too low for a monitor. I believe correct ergonomics dictate that eye level be about 2/3 of the way up the screen. I also keep my screen a little over an arm's length away.

The expensive one is the original, it also includes a full workstation. The cheaper one is the new cut down model, in some ways I'd say it is better... It has a cup holder for example. Many of the changes are aesthetic I'd say.

Blacks are the stiff ones, they also don't have that hump that you get halfway through the keystroke. You will want to kill yourself halfway through typing a 10,000 word essay though. I would argue that reds are best for gaming - like blacks only featherlight - but browns are a good balance between typing and gaming.

Pretty Cool Name posted:I honestly don't see the appeal of the bump when typing. Red supremacy. The idea is that unlike crappy keyboards, on a mechanical you only have to push the key halfway down for it to register, the bump indicates the point where it activates, and trains you not to keep depressing the button. If you're a proper typist it lets you type much faster. That's also why blues make a loud clicking sound when you reach that point.

Noctua doesn't make 200mm fans (yet, there were previews being shown off at one stage but that was over a year ago and god knows when we'll see it) but Bitfenix spectre pros are excellent high airflow fans that come in 200mm, and Phanteks produces a 200mm case fan that is quieter, but not quite as high airflow.

BurgerQuest posted:On a slightly related note, does anyone make a case with no front cut-outs whatsover? I don't need/use/want an optical or floppy drive, I'd love a flat clean surface, front USB ports optional, front audio ports undesirable. NZXT has several; although NZXT cases tend to have flimsy drive caddies, and I wouldn't call them the best of cases - relatively poor cooling, 120mm fans only, often only one fan preinstalled. The Phanteks Enthoo Evolv is an amazing mATX case with a front 200mm fan and a rear 140mm fan - I'd call it one of the best cases on the market. It isn't quite a flat surface: But it has no front cut outs, only air intake vents. The power button and USB ports are on the right side panel in a vertical strip; and there is actually an optical drive bay hidden at the back of the case, for occasional use, which you can remove if you want to fit a big radiator. Then you've got cases with the optical drives hidden behind a door - Nanoxia cases, fractal design Define cases, etc Edit: Bitfenix phenom and colossus mITX/mATX.
